I had a thread pulled because I suggested that impeachment might be Trump’s best route.
It goes like this. Trump should fire Mueller, Rosenstein and anyone else he wants in the corrupt deep state. Which will result in a House impeachment, because the pubs and RINOs will fold.
All this should happen before the 2018 midterm elections. Imagine the turnout in such an election where impeachment hangs in the balance. Republicans got nothing else going for them to get out the vote.
Trump’s popularity is over 50%. If he wins the midterm for the republicans he has been vindicated and can finally be president without the deep state inquisition. Then he can proceed with a 2nd special counsel to take on Clinton and Obama.
Mueller’s inquisition will never end. It has to be stopped. Only Trump can end it.
He can end it while carrying his party to victory this November. The people will come to his rescue.
If the republicans actually convict Trump ( it takes a 2/3 vote so McCainiacs won’t be enough ) it would be the death knell of the republican party. They would go the way of the Whigs - aimless, spineless, and without purpose.
This is war. Absolute war. If Trump is convicted and removed from office he will have sacrificed himself for this country mired in corruption that knows no bounds. History will remember him for his valor.
By the way, conviction does not mean that you are banned from public office forever. That requires a separate Senate vote. Alcee Hastings was a U.S. district court judge impeached and removed from office in 1989. Today he is a U.S House representative from the 20th district in Florida.
Trump could live to fight another day.
But he won’t go down without taking the Deep State with him.
WTH? Pulled on FR? Hmmm.
Your proposal could be a bit dicey but might work.
There may be a problem with a Trump inability to fire certain of the actors and that may account for the threat of RINO's supporting any I&C. If the RINO's are persuasive, together with an even more intense 24/7 attack by the MSM, they just might bleed off sufficient on-the-fence R voters to prevail in the mid-terms.
In any event, I think the climate would be such that many R's in the Senate will vote to convict regardless of the wishes of their constituents. Such would be a full court press by the D's who would go to any length (perhaps with outside money) to coerce R's.
