That’s immaterial. The paths are all well-marked and the mules are there at distances that enhance the rate of survival. There are often people who monitor the paths in order to direct the illegals to safety, including “safe” communities. They’ve been doing this for a long time.

I absolutely agree. This threatened rush to the border, would support building the wall, THAT is why it stopped.
Today Trump is ordering the National Guard to the border. And they will remain there until the wall is built. So section by section the sections without a wall will be guarded by the National Guard. Eventually, the wall will be up, and the National Guard will change their role in all of this.
My thinking is that Trump is no fool, this is a delaying tactic to come at a later date. Now we start deporting people already here, yes, DACA people as well, and use the Guard to make sure they do not sneak back in.
The left, IMO, played right into Trumps hand.

For some reason, I believe there are counterparts in Mexico to help direct the illegals to the mules on this side.
This has been going on for a lotta years. The illegals are monitored (I can’t tell you how) in their progress, and the Wall is absolutely essential to the safety of this country.
When I was in Pakistan, I realized that the culture there would allow for infiltration into a group of illegals with almost no problems except for language. The stature and coloring as well as the diets are so similar as to be scary to any observer. Their flat bread is almost a twin to a tortilla; their foods are spicy; they eat a lot of goats and rice and beans.
A lot of them come from high desert or low desert countries, so deserts are not a problem.
