Yes, the definition of “not enough to eat” is stretched to “occasionally hungry”.

I had an experience much like yours between Sophmore and Junior years. I was not as ambitious to get through school. It took me four years.

Congrats on getting through in three.

I got hungry, but I was too proud to ask family for extra money.

Good character building experience.

When I became an E4 in the Navy, one of the first things I did was ditch my mess hall pass and take money instead to buy my own food.

I had to learn. I went weeks at a time eating Wonder bread with margarine from a tub, and drinking Lipton powdered iced tea.

LOL, I didn’t complain. It was my responsibility and choice.

My husband got through school in the UK by eating dog food quality ground beef.
