President Trump said Tuesday the military would be guarding the U.S.-Mexico border until a border wall can be constructed and proper security put in place.
"We have very bad laws for our border and we are going to be doing some things, Ive been speaking with Gen. Mattis, were going to be doing things militarily, Trump said Tuesday before a working lunch with Baltic leaders. Until we can have a wall and proper security, we are going to be guarding our border with the military. Thats a big step. We really havent done that before, and certainly not very much before.
The president was referencing Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis. The Pentagon was waiting for more details immediately after Trump's announcement.

The boys that actually have seen the Warthog up close KNOW! I live about 10 miles from a military training area for aircraft air attacks. I too have seen and heard the Warthog doing its thing, “like a fire breathing dragon” as their nose mounted Gatling gun
“as their nose mounted Gatling gun”...spits out its fire.

you think the A-10 gatling gun should be used only on children or women ?
It’s like a micro Camp of the Saints dry run, a direct challenge to our national sovereignty. They have to be repelled, even at cost of killing them right there on the border in full view of the world’s media. But my guess is they will stop if they see Marines and armored vehicles on the other side of the fence instead of just empty desert or a few Border Patrol vehicles. They know the mass tactic is effective against outnumbered BP agents who will just try to catch them, but the odds aren’t so good against Marines who will shoot them if they rush the border. The fecklessness (and in some cases treachery) of past administrations seems to be bringing us to a point of forced choice.
A stroke of the pen can remove the military just the same. The day the Democrats regain power, they will destroy and dismantle everything President Trump does. So using the military is a necessary act but building a magnificent wall that even the Democrats and some Republicans can't destroy is the campaign promise in my estimation.
I totally get your point too, having practiced the dubious "art" of public relations for quite a few years. But I think the message Trump is sending is aimed more at Mexico's politicians than to the liberal sponsors of this "caravan." This caravan stunt is political theater designed to embarrass the Trump administration. But if it's allowed to succeed it's game over.
Trump's double-barreled reaction, threatening NAFTA as well as hinting at military involvement, should be an offer the Mexican government can't refuse. Mexico's playing at brinksmanship and needs to be disciplined in the strongest possible way.
Good news!
I’ve been hoping and waiting since January 20, 2017 for the president to make this announcement.
DO IT!!!!!!!!!
Not even close. What kind of business leader thinks American blood is cheaper and more expendible than just manning up and building a wall.
A,temporary solution to a serious long term problem. Drug cartels and sex traffickers on both sides will happily slaughter Americans.
Fellow PR hack here. :-)
I do agree, I see this as Trump warning Mexico. And I hope it works.
I heard today that most of the hoard are from countries other than Mexico, so if they make it across the boarder they are in the OTM category (other than Mexicans) and they can apply for asylum.
What ever happens here, Trump is inspiring people of the world to remember their rights to safe borders.
A wall has to be patrolled and manned r it will be another Great Wall or Hadrian’s Wall, etc.
L O V I N IT !
Bring the troops home from Syria and give them work defending our country and its sovereignty
Double that.
