Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt announced on Monday that he will revise the agencys Obama-era emissions and gas mileage standards for automobiles. The Obama EPAs determination was wrong, said Pruitt in a press release on Monday. Obamas EPA cut the midterm evaluation process short with politically charged expediency, made assumptions about the standards that didnt comport with reality and set the standards too high.
The EPA also announced on Monday that they will work with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to develop a notice and comment rulemaking to establish less onerous emissions standards and Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards.
California received a waiver from the Obama administration to set its own vehicle standards; Pruitt said that the EPA continues to examine whether to keep Californias waiver establishing their own emissions standards.
Pruitt continued:
Cooperative federalism doesnt mean that one state can dictate standards for the rest of the country. EPA will set a national standard for greenhouse gas emissions that allows auto manufacturers to make cars that people both want and can affordwhile still expanding environmental and safety benefits of newer cars. Its in everyones best interest to have a national standard, and we look forward to working with all states, including California, as we work to finalize that standard.

This is why the NYTs and their seditious minions are trying to destroy this man.
Because we Finally have the right man for the right job.
Pruitt is one of the best appointees. He is diminishing the power and scope of the EPA, a rogue agency which has reduced itself to persecuting citizens for building swimming pools. That’s when they are not experimenting on citizens or dumping toxic chemicals into our water ways.
My fear is pandering lib media sycophantic RINOs will give Libs what they want take this man out.
The auto emissions and mileage standards have been far stricter than necessary. This causes cars to be more expensive and more technically complicated than they would be otherwise.
All I can say is where do I go to buy a vehicle that gets 2x that of my 2004 VW TDI, manual transmission, Station Wagons?
Or even a 10% gain?
The next move is to terminate the corn derived ethanol being added to gasoline. That will increase the MPG for cars based upon gasoline being more efficient than ethanol. My own proof is that before ethanol, my 5-speed Geo storm got 23 mpg commuting around DC and after ethanol it got 18-19 mpg over the same route. On long trips I was getting 40 mpg before and 32-33 mpg afterward.
Keep it up! Not tired of winning!!!
Have more gas stations sell ethanol-less gasoline.
Nearest one to me is about an hour away.
What i don’t know, is it a regulation or an option by the gas stations ?
Why have any standards for mileage? If someone wants to spend more on gas and stop more often to fill up, more power to them
End the corn ethanol boondoggle. Ethanol blended gasoline reduces mileage dramatically and the production of corn ethanol takes more energy than it produces as a motor fuel. Ethanol is nothing more than a taxpayer subsidy for corn farmers and a few large ethanol producers.
Don’t forget to also roll back the rules which outlaws the refrigerant R-22 completely in 2020. Lot of folks will get unwelcome financial surprises when it is no longer available... at all... in 2020.

Had my two house units serviced a few weeks back and during a conversation with the technician he stated that R-22 was no longer being produced and is only available through recycled/captured sources. He also stated that pretty soon it will be so expensive that it buying a new unit will be the better choice over recharging an old unit designed for R-22.
Hooray! Sanity. It is great when the adults are in charge and the oppressive commies are gone.
Is it too much trouble to ask GM to bring Hummer back?
