Jesus was not a Jew. If Jesus was a Jew, the Jewish high priests would not have been calling for his death as a heretic.
Jesus was raised Jewish by his parents, but when he came into adulthood, he began to preach things heretical to the Jewish faith. He kept what was in keeping with God’s new covenant, such as the 10 Commandments, but he abandoned many of the laws the Jews held sacred right down to being condemned for performing miracles on the Sabbath day.
Most of all, Jesus said He was salvation for man’s sins and that good works and keeping the laws was not enough. Jews believed they could earn salvation by following hundreds of laws. Jesus made it clear you could not earn salvation by what you did, but receive the gift of salvation by your faith.
Jesus was raised Jewish but he most certainly was not a Jew. Not even close. He preached a new covenant, one the Jews generally could not abide, which is why the Gentiles far more readily adopted his teachings than the Jews did.

yes, Jesus broke away and founded Christianity. His followers became known as Christians, and the Jewish leaders had him crucified.
If Jesus was a Jew, why was he condemned to death by the Jewish leaders? Does that make any sense at all? He was condemned as a heretic because he was not preaching Jewish law for salvation, but was preaching blasphemy in the eyes of the Pharisees and the Sadducees and the Jewish high priests.
If Christ was a Jew he would have preached Jewish teachings, not teaching the radical message he was spreading. Jesus was raised Jewish but he was certainly no longer a Jew in adulthood. Not even close. He was infuriating the Jews because he was challenging most of what they believed. Christianity came from this. Christianity could not have arisen if Jesus was a Jew and taught Moses law. He taught a radical new covenant that we now label Christianity. No Jew could have done this.

Jesus (The Word) did not “found” Christianity. He is the perfected law of Judaism, making him the only acceptable sacrifice to atone for man’s sins. Jesus is the Christ & Redeemer.... And yes, he was a Jew.

I’m pretty sure Jesus looked like the people of the area He lived in. Chances are, they looked similar to people who live in that area now. Brownish. Darker than Swedes, certainly.
His mother was a Jew, that makes him Jewish.

Each culture depicts Jesus in a fashion which is familiar to their culture.
When the Christian world was primarily in the European sphere, artists portrayed the Holy Family as European in appearance. What is wrong with that? Africans depict Jesus as black, and Japanese Christians often visualize him with Asian eyes.

What amazes me is that journalists are writing such drivel as though this has never before been discussed.
How did this happen? Well, I believe that Abraham's father married a Shemite, and had Abraham, then she died. He then married a Japhethite and she gave birth to Sarah.
Abraham also sent for a wife for Isaac from his brother Nahor's strain, likely born of Sarah's mother and his father, being younger. Rebeccah was the granddaughter of Nahor, Abraham's brother. Her brother's name was Laban. Names had meanings, and the name Laban means white. Rebeccah's father may have married a Japhethite, as in the area they lived there were Jephathites. Maybe Leah's and Rachel's maids were largely or partly of Noah's son Japheth's descendants.
Why do I think early women of the Bible were often of Japheth, and therefore likely had lighter skin? It is not because I am white and therefore partial. There was a prophesy given about Noah's three sons. Japheth, enlarged, would dwell in the tents of Shem, and Ham would be Shem's servant. How does one dwell in someones tent, and not be their servant? They are married to them. Therefore Japheth represents and becomes the bride for Shem. The children are part Shem, and part Japheth, or part brown, and part light.
Genesis 9:27 - God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
