This author is pushing racial categories that would have baffled the people of the Near East and Mediterranean Basin at the time Jesus walked the earth.
OH MY GOD !
THIS IS SIRIUS THE PEEPLE NEED TO KNOW
I don’t care if he was a Damascus-patterned lavender. Didn’t he say something about judging based on appearance?
Which is not a problem.
I believe the historian Josephus described Jesus as fair haired and there are also other sources from Roman correspondence
news flash! Jesus had bronze feet So what she is saying is the white privileged have lost their messiah, or you may not worship him because he is not white? or you can worship him as long as you accept people of color without reservation on all levels because denouncing people of color is denouncing Jesus?
QUOTE: It allows the mainstream Christian community to separate their devotion to Jesus from compassionate regard for those who look different.
I REST MY CASE!
WHITE PRIVILEGE, SOCIAL JUSTICE REARS ITS UGLY HEAD
It does not matter. But the man on the Shroud of Turin looks white, almost like a Viking
Wow, it never occurred to me he was a middle eastern Jew. That changes everything!
The scriptures tell us we will not be surprised at His appearance when we see Him in heaven (as we are ALL made in His image). My father was an Hispanic man born in Texas as a first generation American. Being a tall man he was rarely confused for a Mexican with his straight nose and his 6 height coupled with the accent of a Huntley/Brinkley. In the winter his skin tone would be very light, in the summer his golf game and the sun gave him a truly dark complexion, however when I saw him I was never surprised at his appearance since he was my father and I was truly made in his image.
I can only imagine (to quote the song title) what God thinks of our concern that we have the right picture of Him on our walls! If we only had the faith of a mustard seed we would not choke on gnats! Thank you Father for being gracious to us and providing the means of salvation through Your Son Jesus. Amen
This race obsessed hack can travel to main pilgrimage site in Central American Esquipulas in Guatemala. There is a “black” Jesus carved from wood called the Christos Negros.
I carry an image of my Lord and Savior in my heart, his physical appearance means nothing to me.
Happy Easter and Happy Passover to all.
If it is important that churches in Africa be able to display an African Jesus (which he historically certainly would not have been), why is it not permissible for those of Northern European descent to have a blue-eyed Jesus?
I'm not Him.
The Crucifix over my bed when I was growing up was brass so I just assumed He was more of a golden color.
The Shroud also depicts someone who is nearly six feet tall, which was probably unusually tall for someone from that era in that part of the world.
The only “color” of Jesus that matters is that He is Risen. Color that anyway you want.
A photograph of Jesus? It must be a miracle, since photography didn't happen until the nineteenth century.
The fact is that Jews were White. No matter how many goofballs tell us otherwise.
Jews are still White.
“Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above”
