Laura Ingraham is taking a vacation next week. Now the question is whether a controversy swirling around the host will go on hiatus as well.
The popular Fox News Channel host – her “Ingraham Angle” was the fourth most-watched cable-news program in February – told viewers Friday night she would not appear on air next week as she took what she described as a pre-planned break around the Easter holiday with her children. Substitute hosts are expected to fill in for her on the program.
She leaves in the midst of heightened scrutiny. Ingraham set off an imbroglio Wednesday with a Twitter post mocking Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student David Hogg, one of the students who has spoken out about gun control prominently since a February 14th shooting incident at the Parkland, Florida school left 17 people dead. Her tweet linked to a report noting Hogg had been rejected from four California colleges. Her tweet also said Hogg “whines about” the rejections. In response, Hogg posted on social media a list of recent advertisers in her program culled from Media Matters, a left-leaning watchdog group, and urged followers to pressure them to remove their commercials from Ingraham’s show. Nestle, Johnson & Johnson, TripAdvisor, Nutrish, Expedia and Hulu – a video-streaming company partly owned by Fox News parent 21st Century Fox – are among the advertisers who have said they would no longer advertise in her program.
Ingraham apologized Thursday via Twitter, noting that she was sorry “for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the brave victims of Parkland.” She invited the student to appear on her program. Hogg said he would not accept her apology.

I’m a long term Laura fan....she is a devout Catholic and takes this week off every year. In my opinion she was a bit out of line with her tweet to lil Hitler about college rejections—but I think she has learned now the best way to deal with Hogg Hitler is to ignore him as should we all.
This is out of control.

This is the exact reason why I only listen to Michael Savage and Alex Jones. Neither ever apologize for their positions. Even though Savage has moved left on environmental and 2nd Amendment issues over the years, I still respect him as being the only conservative radio talker to never bend a knee to the establishment.

He’s a public figure. When you thrust yourself into the public arena, you have to be ready to have your life examined.
AJ, Rush, and Savage has very strong radio shows. Laura plays very long news clips and chit chats about traffic with Gaymond Arroyo. I really wanted to like her show, but it sounds lazy by comparison.

I’ll give you a shot to try again before I assume you are but one of the many less-than-useless individuals who complain a lot but in the real world do nothing and have never done anything.
I like Laura Ingraham and the few times I have seen her show I have been favorably impressed. This was not a wise move for her to take on any sort of attack against this kid. Yeah, I’m sick of the little punk as much as anyone. But you have to choose your battles. This was a failure on her part to weigh what gain there might be against what loss there probably will be. She is too new on her TV show, and there is no real gain possible taking on this kid. At the risk of sounding like a Monday Morning Quarterback , I think it was simply not a good decision.
Let me say it ... look at Hogg’s eyes. The eyes of a fanatic. The eyes of evil.
He probably dreams about sending millions of us Patriots to reeducation camps.

Laura counterpunched for us, but hogg had an excellent counterpunch of his own. Laura was completely unprepared for it.
If she were a true pro, she would have anticipated it, doubled-down against him so hard that he would commit suicide. But she didn't, so he won.
The good news is he thinks he’s all that now. Somehow he’ll screw it up. He’s on McCain now. Will we ask why he’s bullying a guy with cancer?
Sadly it is.
I will never forget her sitting there giggling with delight, chortling with glee when Doug Jones won the Alabama seat. Since that moment my "give a damn" has been busted when it came to her.
Pitiful.
