President Trump was as important a character in the premiere of the Roseanne revival as John Goodman. More than 20 years after the working-class sitcom went off the air, the show returned with the original cast and modern politics.
A supersized, hour-long premiere Tuesday night finds sisters Roseanne Conner (Roseanne Barr) and Jackie Harris (Laurie Metcalf) at odds over their voting histories.
Whats up, deplorable? says Jackie, decked out in a Nasty Woman sweatshirt and pussyhat, in her first on-screen appearance.

Well that explains it. I’ve been marveling how they cast her in that role on Young Sheldon...she looks and sounds exactly like Metcalf!
And the new Roseanne show...I absolutely loved it.
WELL, ILL ABIDE BY JIM & JOHNs OPINION.
When did things shift that Roseanne became a deplorable?
Not bashing her, but at times I just have to shake my head. Didn’t watch, and probably won’t (not my cup of coffee), but good for them.
I thought his character died on the original run? My wife and I actually watched Roseanne on its first run, but lost interest by the last few seasons. I believe they had a season in which the family won the lottery, but in the season finale, didn't we learn that the last season was a dream, and that Dan had died?
She’s an excellent actress.
I dvr’ed the show but if it has some transgender kid...I don’t know. I don’t believe children should be used in the profession in such a way. It is why I loathed the play version of Billy Elliott.
_____________
That kid was cruisin' for a brusin' at school. Here's hoping his "story" gets less attention on the show as it continues.
_______________
Maybe she's here already.
;-)
The portrayal of Sheldon’s mom on Big Bang is not all bad. In some respects she’s the only one that seems to know how to tie your shoes when she is portrayed
That’s one of the story lines I do NOT like, about the revised Roseanne.
Loved the first two episodes, last night.
Hoping something constructive comes out of that weird/lib crossdressing kid story line.
_______________
That's very true.
Goodman was phenomenal in “Flight” where he played the drug dealer who delivered the “banana boats.”
I doubt that it will.
To be frank, Roseanne is all over the map politically. I liked the first show which was excellent (despite the mayhem she and her then husband caused) and will certainly give this one a try.
“When did things shift that Roseanne became a deplorable?”
In “real life”, or the character in the show?
She came out for Trump early on during the campaign. I’m actually surprised Hollywood deigned to air her show.
A flashback to the tone of All In The Family.

Maybe the kid's aunt can use some of the $50,000 for having that surrogate baby to send him away to a nice private school and get him off the show.
I don't care what the silly kid wants to wear but I found the actor/kid a little too pompous and full of himself. The show would be better with a lot less of him.
She is a master at psychologically manipulating Sheldon and anyone else for that matter. Evidently, Chuck Lorre has mommy issues, given the portrayal of Leonard's mother, Sheldon's mom and the two moms on his show "Mom"
One of last night's barbs delivered by Roseanne to Jackie was particularly perceptive re Obamacare, which Jackie supported: "Your inability to do simple math."
__________
Yes there is that kind of irreverence. Maybe they could use another "George Jefferson" just for laughs.
;-)
LOL!! Agree :-)
This was accommodated in the opening scene with Dan wearing a CPAP mask and Roseanne screeching, "I thought you were dead!"
A bit of rusty acting, with Darlene (Sara Gilbert) the standout exception. Otherwise, the show was as entertaining as ever while addressing family values of the working class.
The cross-dresser boy character is quirky, but the boy is otherwise happily adorable. The story line was true to the series premise with the family struggling through their opinions and emotions. Sweet moment when Dan hugged his grandson.
Will continue to follow the series.
