The Maryland high school student who fatally shot his ex-girlfriend and injured another student also killed himself, authorities said.
Austin Rollins, 17, shot himself in the head when he was confronted by school resource officer Blaine Gaskill during the March 20 school shooting, the St. Marys County Sheriffs Office said Monday.
Gaskill had arrived within a minute of Rollins shooting 16-year-old Jaelynn Willey in a hallway at Great Mills High School. A shot Gaskill fired struck the Glock handgun in Rollins hand.
Rollins held the gun, which Gaskill had ordered him to drop, to his head, student witnesses told WJLA.
Gaskill was not injured.
The teen girl was left brain-dead and taken off life support two days after the attack.
Desmond Barnes, a 14-year-old victim, was shot in his right thigh in the same hallway as Willey.
I was just shot at my school, he said in a 911 call released Monday, where he had to repeat himself to the dispatcher, saying again, I was just shot at my school.
Investigators said the single shot fired by Rollins hit both Willey and Barnes.

SRO shot shooter in his gun hand.
Was that before, after, or the proximate cause of the perp’s weapon fire?
"...the kid will not get into Heaven because he offed himself..."
I think Trump needs to invite the cop to the WH and give him an award of some type.
That will be all he needs to say about the entire incident as it will make the Hog Wild idiots go insane
Oh, I'm pretty sure he had a 1st class ticket to Lucifer's house before that time...
In other words, investigators said the single shot fired by Rollins that hit Jaelynn Willey in the head also hit Desmond Barnes in the thigh. Now, that's an interesting shot trajectory!
I have read that in that type of situation it is common to focus on and shoot at the weapon.
The investigators must have interned with Arlen Specter.
Does the Left always wonder why cops don’t just shoot the gun out of the bad guys hand?
The Fourth Estate has truly become a Fifth Column
“A good-guy with a gun doesn’t necessarily have to actually shoot the bad-guy to stop him”
Same scenario happened at a local Home Depot. A young man showed up there and shot his former girlfriend and another person. He then left the store and was confronted by an officer who was right out front, and shots were exchanged. So having no way out, he went back inside the HD and shot himself. If the officer hadn’t confronted him, the murderer would have gotten away.
EXACTLY
Downside is that after every legit shooting the Leftist imbeciles will ask why the bad guy's gun wasn't shot out of his hand.
Good guy with gun causes bad guy with gun to shoot himself.
I don’t see the problem with this.
The mere presence of an armed defender stops the killing of innocents. Teachers who have CCWs (or in states where none is required) should be allowed to carry their weapons ASAP.
Further, get rid of so-called gun-free zones which are nothing more than victim-disarmament zones. Such laws embolden those with criminal intent.
Either way ... he stopped him from killing anyone else.
Of course it would have. Duh!
Thw shooter must have gotten a hold of some JFK magic bullets.
And the bad guy was able to maintain control of his weapon and fire it, committing suicide? Sorry, something here doesn’t make sense.
We now know more about the Maryland school shooting that killed ONE than we know about the Pulse jihad and Las Vegas shooting COMBINED. The press is just SOOOO curious about the first but not the others. I wonder why that is.
Same difference. If the good guy with a gun hadn't been there the shooter would have kept shooting at students.
Hero cop nonetheless. He confronted the perp unlike the cop in the Florida school.
