Voters prioritize protecting citizens from gun violence over protecting the rights of gun owners. And while majorities support a variety of gun control proposals, the latest Fox News poll also finds doubt Congress will act -- or that it would make any difference if it does.
By a 13-point margin, voters consider protecting against gun violence more important than protecting gun rights (53-40 percent).
In addition, theres substantial support for specific measures to reduce gun violence, including: requiring criminal background checks on all gun buyers (91 percent), requiring mental health checks on all gun buyers (84 percent), raising the age to buy all guns to 21 (72 percent), putting armed guards in schools (69 percent), and banning assault rifles and semi-automatic weapons (60 percent).

The proposal a majority rejects is allowing teachers and school officials to carry guns on school grounds (57 percent oppose). That was also the case in 2013 (52 percent opposed.)
The Fox News poll asked about these measures in January 2013, a month after the Newtown Connecticut school shooting that killed 26.
Compared to that time, support for putting armed guards at schools is up nine points, a ban on assault weapons is up six, and requiring mental health checks is up one. Support for universal background checks is unchanged -- and about 9-in-10 Democrats, Republicans, and independents favor them.
Nearly half of those living in a gun-owner household favor banning assault weapons: 47 percent favor, 50 percent oppose.

There is a big difference between Registered Voters and Likely Voters. And remember that Fox is not the conservative news organization it used to be.
Last I checked there is a constitutional right to bear arms.
Not aware of a constitutional right to public education?
This is BS.
No credible polls ever Get a 91% response on something.
Three of those responses require clarification.
What does a “Universal Background Check” consist of?
Who decides another’s “Mental Health” status?
What is an “Assault Weapon”?
A Baseball Bat is just a Baseball Bat until you hit someone with one. Then it becomes a deadly weapon, AKA Assault Weapon.
The person wielding the Baseball Bat has not had his Background Checked or had a Mental Health Evaluation.
The same goes for someone using a Knife, Rock, Motor Vehicle or anything else that is not nailed down to injure and kill another person.
Remember, everywhere you go you are surrounded by People who buy into this feel good Liberal Utopia nonsense. People have no idea what Freedom even means anymore.

We the People are supposed to be vigilant, willing and able to discern truth from lies.
When we allow ourselves to be lazy, stupid and naive, we no longer deserve freedom. The tyrants will be all too happy to devour us and provide the “security” we crave.

Forgot to add: and hand over our youth to be indoctrinated and reared by strangers, be that ‘child-care’ or ‘public education’
Sorry, FRiends, 40yrs+ and the DoEd still exists; the (R)N(C) have poo-poo’d every clarion call with, “Oh, that can *never* happen HERE”. Let alone still believe that doesn’t pertain to THEIR ‘precious little angel’...
Denials of disillusion, “It’s a problem w/ YOUR school/elected, not *MINE*.” Welcome to the reaping.
I don’t doubt your figures. That said, even if it were only 25% of Americans, it’s still a Constitutional right. Nothing in the Constitution says that rights only apply if >50% of the people exercise them. It’s a very slippery slope to allow them to use that argument.
I also agree entirely with your comments about class warfare. The left attempts to color everyone who they disagree with as either less informed or less bright than them. It’s often vicious character assassination.

And that is exactly what is happening.
While we type away on the Internet pretty darn good, very few concerned patriots are actually even willing to lift a finger to remedy this problem.
They think you can educate the delusional?
You cannot educate the delusional.

Ha. Sorry, but the warning signs have been around for AGES, when it much easier to counter and correct. The (R)N(C) did neither.
Come ‘18, the roaches will come out of the woodwork and whisper, “A vote for non-(R) is a vote for the (D)”, “Hold their feet to the fire THIS time...”, or something along those lines. And many a sheep will ‘dutifully’ pull the (R) lever w/o a second thought.
Ah, another “I believe in\support...but”
Word the “poll” how you like and get any “results” you choose.
It’s the oldest trick in the media’s bag. Don’t fall for this crap.
If gun control is a winner, why don’t the Democrats run on it in Red States?
I agree, those non-R votes had no impact on PA 18!!

Suzy soccer mom doesn't give a damn what the pedantic definition of an assault weapon is. She'll ask, "Does it look like an army gun?" and if yes, she'll support banning it.
The next assault weapon ban isn't going to make the same mistakes as the '94 one did in focusing on flash suppressors, bayonet lugs, pistol grip stocks, and all that minutia that gun manufacturers simply eliminated. It'll go straight to the crux: Is it a semi-auto with a detachable magazine? It's on the ban list.
For me, liberal arrogance & condescension is summed up with:
“Nobody neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeds an AR-15!!!”
As for our beloved Constitution, Feinstein & other gun grabbers call it a “living document” that must needs change with the times.
What they really mean is, “Constitution? We don’ need no steenking Constitution!!” After all, it was written by dead slaveowning white guys./s
And as to the charge that gun control is favored by the elites, some of them are stung by that term enough to respond, “It’s unfair to characterize common sense gun measures as elitist and you shouldn’t do that!”
Class warfare? You can bet the commune on that, comrade.

Doug Jones is sure pushing it now that he beat Roy Moore.
