Beta white males with a self hate complex are doomed to a life of misery and self loathing.
“There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery. Then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.... After all we have been through. Just to think we can’t walk down our own streets, how humiliating.” - Jesse Jackson
Kindle wants fifteen dollars for that book while you can get it hardback for twelve. LOL
Won’t be reading it anytime soon.
No. It was as dumb then as now
Good judgment comes from experience.
And experience comes from bad judgment.
Ignoring experience keeps many from
embracing their inner racist.
Didn’t Juan Williams say something similar and found himself ostracized to Fox?
IIRC, Juan’s two sons are conservatives. And I suspect away from the camera Juan is too.
It wouldn’t surprise me. I disagree with his leftism, but find him tolerable as opposed to Whorealdo and Beckel.
I have my doubts about current youngsters becoming conservative as they mature.
When I was a child the public schools actually taught real history, English, science, and mathematics. We were given a foundation of learning that would allow us to start thinking logically when our brains finally matured in that function (the capability of full logical doesn't happen until the early to mid 20s).
Today, the public schools do not teach anything of value and are Communist indoctrination centers and deliberately teach nothing that would allow a person coming into adulthood to reason and grow intellectually.
Oh, okay. Thanks.
Time will tell.
I did have an exchange today with another FReeper who said their 20s-something daughter is becoming more conservative as she gets older.
What you describe is a plausible scenario, and you didn’t even mention social media turning them into mind-numbed robots, or student loans crushing them!
The whole thing is really up in the air. I’m at a loss as to how it will all turn out.
Well, we did INVENT effing cell phones tho - and an effing democratic republic, you little twit.
“The way kids are indoctrinated today makes them unlikely to ever appreciate it”
Culture is a pendulum that swings back and forth. What works for one generation rarely works for the next. For example, the little turd on the national stage, David Hogg, is the son of an FBI agent and a school teacher— his parents both work in the public sector, immune from market forces as to their income. That has consequences for the son they produced. And it shows. He is the product of two risk-averse, rules-based parents who work for the government.
People run to embrace rules (and the institutions which proffer them) for one reason— they lack a fundamental understanding of human nature, how the world works (that’s all economics in its purest form really is), and the ability to exercise judgment in the face of uncertainty.
“Just give me a rule to follow...I can’t think for myself. Please, just tell me what to do to make it all right. Give me structure, I have not developed self-discipline.”
The wildest girl I knew (socially, not biblically) in high school today lives in a shtetl in New York state. I think about her frequently when I see this gereation of idiots. Will they end up like her?
These kids today are going to scare the crap out of the establishment, probably around the age of 30. They are not educated to compete in a global economy, the govt imports labor that is (and is easy to control because of their tentative immigration status). They are told their skin color is the cause of every other ethnic group’s underperformance. This does not end well. Faced with ballooning interest payments on a national debt that goes up by one trillion dollars every six months, as well as the need to fund social security and public sector pensions for their parents...plus their student loan debt service. And no training in personal finance and/or economics. God help them. And us.
I pulled Eric Hoffer’s True Believer off the bookshelf in the den and moved it to the nightstand for rereading this week. Tough sledding ahead, it will reguire a Kiplingesque pirouette to keep ones head while those about us are losing theirs and blaming it on us.
On the bright side, small towns are back in fashion. Housing is far more affordable. The schools are better. I hope a lot of these kids find in those communities what they haven’t had growing up— home.
Without stereotypes we could not function in society other than as hermits.. One simply is surrounded by and deals with too many people to evaluate each one carefully and “fairly” as a pure individual. Stereotyping is a sorting mechanism and is normally quite helpful. One can then deal with such individuals that must be dealt with on that individual basis. Some stereotypes that case one to act or speak certain ways can save one’s life. Try abandoning all stereotypes and then stroll through different parts of the city determinedly regarding each individual on the street as that pure individual about whom you have no operant stereotype.
I am not a racist, but I do judge individuals and people buy who they are on whole. People and their societies make mistakes, do bad things, and sometimes just do plain stupid stuff. Take Germany. Great people with some really bad periods in their history history.
All TV pundits are actors playing a role.
In my younger day I often wondered what made my Archie bunker dad feel the way he did, I am his age now and I understand because I feel much the same.
My soldiers knew that race was never a factor in the way I interacted with them...we were all one color...green.
For most of my last two years in Germany, my S-4 section was predominantly black. I was invited to an NCOs house for July 4th. His wife served up some really great soul food. As a bachelor, I made the most of a home cooked meal.
After asking for seconds on chitlins, she asked if I really liked it? I responded I love the food, but Im really feeling the urge to start dancing. Dead silence for a couple of seconds, then uproarious laughter from the men I worked with.
