Worldwide campaign to protect planet celebrates 11 years

AN ANTONIO - Earth Hour is the world’s largest grassroots movement and shines light on the need for climate action.
Every year since it’s induction, people around the globe commit to turning off the lights for one hour.
Earth hour is Saturday at 8:30 p.m. local time in whatever area of the planet you live in.
This year Earth Hour celebrates 11 years of saving energy and raising awareness on the impact of climate change.
Iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building, Space Needle, Las Vegas strip, Eiffel Tower and Big Ben all go dark for one hour in honor of Earth Hour.
Earth Hour supporters have successfully advocated for more climate-friendly laws and policies, such as those that have banned plastic in the World Heritage site of the Galapagos Islands, according to the website.
There are more ways to raise awareness and participate in Earth Hour than just turning the lights off.

Gonna go outside and fire up both motorcycles, the truck, the tractor, both generators, the wood chipper, the weeder, the chain saw, turn on the heater, open the windows and barbecue a steak!

Draw the curtains and turn on every light inside and outside of your house. BTW, I’m going to take a picture of Mount Wachusetts ski slope, from 15 miles away. Bet they’re lit up like a Sudbury Christmas tree, all white lights.

Some friends of mine used to heat their auto mechanic garage by burning used motor oil on a drip plate inside an 55 gallon drum.
The belching black smoke out the stove pipe was epic.
Kills dogs too.
Actually I find this relatively innocent. I am more concerned about the hysteria over gun control, fake news, and obsession with pushing for war with Russia.

I turned my lights off last night for about 7 hours.
So I’d good. Right?

The dumb kid marches? These Tide pod consumers haven’t a clue that they are marching against their own civil rights.
Me too and I think I’ll take a drive and burn some gas too
I usually save my used oil for the lawns of dog owners who repeatedly crap their animals on my lawn.
Can’t I have to finish up welding my new wood burning stove at that hour.
Good time to test all the generators.
Our water authority did the same thing. Subsidies for low-flow toilets, watering restrictions every year, all that fun stuff.
We are so good at saving water the overflow is a foot thick going over the top of our reservoir dam RIGHT NOW!
I pay more for the water that falls from the sky than an Israeli does for R/O water from the sea.
Our watering restrictions go into effect on May 1st.
Gonna bump the A/C up a notch to undo what they are shooting for.....

So, as I read it, at 9 pm EDT the lights in NYC should be out, at 9 pm CDT, Chicago should be dark, then Denver at 9 pm MDT and LA an hour later.
It would be interesting to see satellite photos at 9 pm local time for each time zone and compare them to similar photos taken the night before and after.
Either we’ll learn the Left Coasts are filled with hypocrites or we’ll finally see the Red States with more lights burning than the Blue States.
I’ll be turning mine on.
I’ll try to remember to turn on all the lights for a half hour or so.
