The Establishment has him boxed in...unless he’s willing to use the military to keep himself in office, a shutdown would finish him. He’s the president in the weakest political position since Nixon in 1974. They have him boxed, because the balance of power is with the professional political class, who have bought off who they need to and turned the rest of the population into drugged up idiots. That’s where the blame ultimately resides.

Exactly. He vetos this and we have a shut down until the time the Dems agree to end it. And you know whatever deal they agree to would be worse than this.

POTUS is defering to the GOPe because of the midterms. He’s not on the ballot, obviously. I think the gloves will come off next year. POTUS will run against DC. All of them.

Rare voices of cool analysis on yet another hair-on-fire thread. I watched the presser live - certainly looks like Trump was gang rushed by the corrupt Congress, en masse. I would say that mess of a bill was in the works for some time, they were just waiting for the right timing to spring it to get the best shot at cornering him. They flipped the script on Trump, that much is apparent - and he's certainly not happy about it, and not going by just his comments. The fact that there was not a public and typically upbeat and jovial signing ceremony spoke volumes.
