I very much wanted to post my own headline but I stuck to the rules.

The headline as presented in the NYT doesn't convey what the piece is about and this is a major problem with newspapers today. They want to be creative instead of informative.

The headline should have been something like, "Las Vegas Shooter, Stephen Paddock, caught on surveillance video"

The key words and name would jump out at you and you would feel compelled to read the article.

The original headline as written doesn't give enough direct information.

I understand why people change headlines and I really wanted to change this one. If I had I bet the article would have gotten more hits because people would know what the article is actually about.

Video Shows Las Vegas Gunman Gambling, Eating Alone and Filling His Suite With Guns

Which is different than yours:

He Gambles. He Tips Staff. He Eats Alone. All the While, He’s Stocking His Vegas Suite With Guns.

Did the New York Slimes change it?
