House Republicans spending chief told his colleagues Wednesday that there is no waste in the $1.3 trillion spending bill lawmakers are rushing through Congress this week.
Weve worked to make sure not a dollar is wasted, Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, New Jersey Republican, said as he defended the massive bill before the House Rules Committee, pushing back against bipartisan frustration from lawmakers who said they couldnt stomach voting on a 2,232-page bill with less than 24 hours time to read it.
But no less than President Trump disagreed with him, taking to Twitter to say he had to waste money on Dem giveaways in the bill in order to get his own military spending increases.

Pelosi: "We Have to Pass the Bill So That You Can Find Out What Is In It
Arguing no money wasted is beside the point imo.
Not only is the size of the bill arguably an attack on Pres. Trump and concerned lawmakers imo, but most domestic spending and foreign aid in the bill is probably unconstitutional imo.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
"The smart crooks long ago figured out that getting themselves elected to federal office to make unconstitutional tax laws to fill their pockets is a much easier way to make a living than robbing banks." me
"Federal career lawmakers probably laugh all the way to the bank to deposit bribes for putting loopholes for the rich and corporations in tax appropriations laws, Congress actually not having the express constitutional authority to make most appropriations laws where domestic policy is concerned. Such laws are based on stolen state powers and uniquely associated stolen state revenues." me
I hope that Pres. Trump at least shows the 2000+ pages of the bill on TV before he signs or vetoes it, and I wouldnt be disappointed if he vetoes it.
Im glad that this is an election year.
I can't believe anyone with your screen name would even ask that.
If your congressman or senator isn’t Ryan, Pelosi, Schumer, or McConnell, you were not represented in crafting the spending bill.
It’s all a charade, a fraud, a Potemkin village of free government.
Tell me anther one daddy!
It’s all blather
Spending WILL GO IP NO MATTER WHAT
GDP MUST GROW AT 5-6%
Then spending is irrelevant
AND we won’t go bankrupt
So to speak
Great truth
Know them by their actions
Not their speak
However
A righteous man always speaks truth and his word is law
NJ = Liar. What about the NJ to NY Big Dig?? This country has only one person in power who gives an ef. The rest get the money and run.
Dims are more than happy to shut down the government because they know Reps will be blamed.
Didnt happen last time.
And just for the record, WFB would kick your ass for saying that. Frigging surrender monkey Republicans....
L
Well, EXACTLY what do you think they should do?
I’m not so sure as WFB was a pragmatist. He said to always go for the most conservative—that can win!!! That’s what we’re talking about here. Specifically, what can be done to get the best deal?
BOOM.
Sealing their frakin’ doom that is what they are doing!
Thats what were talking about here.
Not buying it. What theyre doing is ****ing down my leg and telling me its raining.
L
How about producing a bill that funds Republican priorities and not democrat priorities? How about taking the bullshit concerning constraints on how the wall should be built? How about the Republican majority starts acting like a majority and get to work funding Donald Trump’s agenda?
Great!! How do you get it through the Senate?
