Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said Wednesday that wealthy donors should starve the Republican Party of funds until it moves in the liberal ideological direction that he, and they, desire. The Fresno Bee reports:
The people that are funding the Republican Party should turn off their financial support, because that would starve the party, and I think they would then maybe come to their senses, Schwarzenegger told a crowd at the launch event for his centrist Republican advocacy group New Way California. You better go and lead and tell your people around you that weve got to change, because thats what California demands, or there will be no more money.
Schwarzenegger, Californias highest-profile Republican figure and one of the last to win statewide office in 2006, is part of a nascent movement to reshape and broaden the appealof a political party that now makes up just a quarter of registered voters here. During his speech at a community center in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, he took a victory lap for predicting his partys demise in an infamous 2007 speech where he said the California GOP was dying at the box office.
Schwarzenegger was joined by Ohio Governor John Kasich, who lost to President Donald Trump in the 2016 Republican presidential primary and then stayed away from his partys national convention, even though it was held in Cleveland.
He was also joined by former Republican State Assembly leader Chad Mayes (R-Yucca Valley), who was forced out last year after supporting Gov. Jerry Brown and the Democrats in renewing the states controversial cap-and-trade program.

Cahleefornia has already voted for crazy.
What's the need for crazy-lite? What need do you fill?
>>Cmon guys, if theres market for centrism, voters will flock to it.
People ask for real centrism and the Progressives in both parties interpret that as we want to be controlled more.
I’m so sick of these people.
Nah ... its the water out there. The only explanation why so many people could go liberal.
I hope Trump vetos it.
I do, too, but not looking that way. If you read his recent tweets, he says he had to let the dems waste money on their pet projects in order to get the military funded, and secure funding for the wall.
With any luck.
Some tried. If big money were everything, Darrell Issa would have been governor and not Arnold.
Death of a party by infiltration.
The liberals are masters at it and they have outplayed conservatives for many years now.
They’re already liberal. How much more liberal do you want them. And this from a guy who liked to have sex in front of others and watch others having sex. Really?
Go back to Austria!
Now that you mention it I remember it too. Before we elected Trump we didn't know for sure if he was another Schwarzenegger type and I can't think of any evidence that would have precluded that possibility.
On the one hand Praise the Lord that Trump has been better than his word. On the other hand how do we discern the Rinos like Arnie and McCain and Flake before ever electing them?
Hes completely lost it. You see Arnie, here in America unlike in Yurpland, we the people do not automatically bow and scrape to our self styled superiors. Just ask President Trump about that....
Seriously, is kennedy contagious or does impregnating your third world housekeeper affect your own chromosomes?
At least he is admitting that the GOP leaders do the donors bidding, not the peoples. Confirmation of what weve known for a while.
I'm sick and tired of people who tell us we have to change to suit their agenda.
Do we owe Gray Davis an apology. This idiot is as bad or worse. What did he gain by replacing Davis with Arnold.
Nothing that I can see and perhaps it made things worse.
Huhhh? Gov’t for sale?
That gets you Hitler, Stalin or worse!
Hes a mangina. Courted womens favor way too much. Will he soon wear a dress?
Arnie, finally shows his colors in public.
