Fox News contributor Ralph Peters quits ‘propaganda machine’ in email to colleagues

A retired Army lieutenant colonel and Fox News contributor quit the network Tuesday, accusing it of fueling paranoia among its audience and serving as a “propaganda machine” for the Trump administration.

Retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters, a “strategic analyst” at Fox News, made the comments in an email to colleagues announcing that he had not renewed his contract, obtained by BuzzFeed.

“Four decades ago, I took an oath as a newly commissioned officer. I swore to ‘support and defend the Constitution,’ and that oath did not expire when I took off my uniform. Today, I feel that Fox News is assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law, while fostering corrosive and unjustified paranoia among viewers. Over my decade with Fox, I long was proud of the association. Now I am ashamed,” Mr. Peters reportedly wrote.

I remember when he backed Hillary in 2016, probably with visions of a juicy job in the Clinton admin that would keep him in business for 8 years.

He was wrong. Now Hillary is in no position to hire him for anything, nobody at Team Trump will return his calls, and no Democrat or Republican in DC can really do much with him.

Fox News has only been talking to the older speakers in the populist wave (older = mid to late 20s) enough to moderate it and avoid isolating it, which isolation would incubate hordes of younger kids toward extreme radicalism. Trying to shut it down is even more of a potentially fatal error, and it cannot be shut down. Many old fool 68ers in my generation had best duck out of politics and prepare to go with the flow. Otherwise, they'll make it mad and much more dangerous.

Fox News still leans too far to the left in some ways, but part of it is moving in the right direction.

Ralph Peters and his ilk are why I totally tuned out FNC. I always fast-forwarded whenever Peters was on because he never had anything useful or intelligent to add to a conversation. Same was true with so many of their other “analysts”. I got so I was fast-forwarding EVERYTHING they had on, at which point i realized it was a total waste of time in the first place, and tuned out the whole shebang.
