A retired Army lieutenant colonel and Fox News contributor quit the network Tuesday, accusing it of fueling paranoia among its audience and serving as a propaganda machine for the Trump administration.
Retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters, a strategic analyst at Fox News, made the comments in an email to colleagues announcing that he had not renewed his contract, obtained by BuzzFeed.
Four decades ago, I took an oath as a newly commissioned officer. I swore to support and defend the Constitution, and that oath did not expire when I took off my uniform. Today, I feel that Fox News is assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law, while fostering corrosive and unjustified paranoia among viewers. Over my decade with Fox, I long was proud of the association. Now I am ashamed, Mr. Peters reportedly wrote.

I don’t know what happened to this guy. Just after or just before he left the military back in the late 1980’s as I recall he wrote a few novels that I thought were excellent about life in Russia after the USSR disintegrated. The first few years I watched him as a pundit I thought he was very insightful and offered a well-thought-out conservative perspective. Then he started to change into a liberal mush mouth. That must have been after they found him in that little boy’s room wearing those Sponge Bob underpants on his head...
He was and is a Never Trumper and will not be missed.
The only neocon who actually served in the military. Well, maybe that disqualifies him from neocon status. But he is an ill-tempered war monger. He’s got issues. Maybe it’s PTSD.
“mere propaganda machine for a destructive and ethically ruinous administration, he continued. When prime-time hosts who have never served our country in any capacity dismiss facts and empirical reality to launch profoundly dishonest assaults on the FBI, the Justice Department, the courts, the intelligence community (in which I served) and, not least, a model public servant and genuine war hero such as Robert Mueller ” I guess that says it all. Tell me El Ralpho, were you in the intelligence community that foisted the Iraq war on bad intel, or the one that did not know the “Wall” was coming down, or the one that tried to blow up Castro with a cigar??
I think I see why he never got close to making general.
He’s been a vociferous Trump basher almost from the beginning.
Who’s taking care of Huma’s kid while she’s galavanting with Hillary Clinton and the kid’s dad is in jail? Does that poor child get any kind of continuing parental dedication?? Or is he a nanny’s problem to raise?
I wonder how he thinks Fox News is assaulting the Constitutional order
He wanted a ban on assault weapons for one.
The only smart thing I can recall him saying was that the US should not get involved in Syria.
thanks for the correction.
I’m not trying to be snarky, but I recall listening to him a couple of times over the past year and thinking that he was “off”, i.e., like he was in the early stages of dementia or a brain tumor.
I imagine Stephen Hatfill signed a confidentiality agreement when he accepted his settlement. But, I would love to hear him explain what a great hero Mueller is.
As near as I can tell he never left his desk, let alone American soil.
Now I can watch Varney without worrying about this cluck popping up.
It was amazing how either he or I changed so much.
I used to like him, now, everything President Trump is “simply not enough.”
UGH!
Good riddance to NWO trash!! He has been unwatchable and won’t be missed.
He did call obozo a p*ssy once, on air, didn’t he? So he did one good thing. How he thinks the Trump Admin is undermining The Constitution, I would like to know.
bye. see ya later.
Also, he's peeved at the attacks on Mueller, who served in Vietnam (Peters didn't) and was decorated.
Question: Has he really changed? Or is he just doing the sort of thing he was always doing?
Behavior like this is almost always the result of being compromised. And usually it’s something really really bad.
Because Shep Smith is SOOOO conservative. And CNN is fair and balanced.
