Interesting. I know nothing about Saccone, but to think that in this day and age, the Democrats would allow someone to run as Lamb did, is unthinkable. I do remember skimming an article that stated he really is your typical, modern liberal, he just hid all of that during the campaign. Still boggles my mind that he could win.
PA-18 was R+11.
Lamb’s new district will be R+3. I think he will gladly take that.
Bad news for York County, now the most Gerrymandered county in the Commonwealth.
Dallastown Borough abuts Yoe Borough and both are surrounded by York Township.
Dallastown will be in the 11th District, Yoe in the 10th; and to make it “work” with contiguous areas some of York Township will be in each district, with the divisions going down to the precinct level of its five wards.
New PA-17 picks up parts of the old PA-14 which was a heavy Dem district. I believe this district is currently represented by Keith Rothfus.
He is going to have the same problems Saccone had if he doesn’t run an inspiring campaign. Rothfus must run as a Conservative (obviously) and turn out the vote. He has to get Lamb on the record as to what he does and doesn’t support about Trump’s policy. He has to put Lamb on the record as to what he does not like about Nancy Pelosi to not want to vote for her. The above two are critical to depress the blue vote (they need to target Lamb’s pro-second amendment stances in the deep blue areas of new PA-17).
I’m sure Lamb will vote lockstep with Republicans until after this fall ... he wants that different “record”. I’m sure he’ll be voting liberal thereafter unless the Dems have some kind of comfortable margin in the House after the midterms.
Rothfus cannot let up on the attacks. As soon as Lamb wins the Dem primary, the attacks need to begin (strategically of course ... it’s stupid to shoot your wad early, but a trickle up to a “wave” this fall would be prudent).
Rothfus cannot assume that voters will simply show up. Rothfus will have to get out there and campaign like he’s never had to campaign before (and he’s had some tough races so far) since he is going to have the exact same problems Saccone had campaigning against Lamb.
This is going to be a very competitive race.
I don't think it necessarily means all the justice of the Supreme Court opposed it. I think it means that fewer than four justices - the minimum needed - agreed to take the case up.
Lamb would have to run again in November regardless. But he runs under the new map.
Bad news for me. They just buried my vote in a sea of blue voters. Total crap.
When the legislature and the governor could not.
Be i the 18th district or the 14th district, hopefully they can fine a better candidate to run than Saccone. The guy ran a terrible campaign.
Pennsylvania like most states could be easily broken up. Philadelphia and the Mainline can have their own little sh*thole utopia. Maybe Ohio can annex Pittsburg. I have no answer for Harrisburg. The rest of the state is ok if the illegals are kept out but that is a huge problem. This Wolf is a POS.
I hate government, judges, politicians, liberals and media. I have never been this cynical about so much. It does suck the air out of life.
SCAM. All voting districts should be a rectangle for equality. Overlap ignored.
The primaries are just a few days away and the map is only going to be used for the 2018 and 2020 elections since they will need to be redistricted in time for 2022 anyway. IOW, it’s not as huge as some would portray it.
The Supreme Judges are electing your representatives with weird lines selecting their own favorites.
All it takes is a brave Republican legislature to redraw based on a rectangle, like the U.S. States mostly, and run the election. Ignore the crooked judges. Just state judges were choosing their favorites.
As a voter in PA-18, I’m being disenfranchised.
It’s not as bad as it could have been.
Both Democrats and Republicans win pretending to be Republicans. Democrats just bluff a little more.
uestion to folks from Pennsylvania. Does this mean that the 18th District, stays as is? And Lamb will have to run again in November?>>> Lamb was always scheduled to rerun in november. it’s an open seat but expires the same as all the others.
the dem version back in the 80’s was far worse. CD-1 which was my district ran from montgomery county in the north, a skinny sliver down broad street. over to west philly down baltimore avenue out chester pike delaware county, down to trainer at the delaware state line.
And he will have a voting record.
He might have to primary against a Democrat first and hopefully, face a better Republican.
