I never believed that Kennedy was in the car. (He couldn't have escaped and I don't believe anyone ever claimed to have seen him wet.) But I always thought Mary Jo was, until now.
Pinney is a Chappaquiddick native who KNOWS all the players and some you've never heard of. He KNOWS things other Chappiquiddians talked about in hushed tones but not publicly because of Kennedy intimidation (aka Death Threats).
Bottom line: Chappaquiddick was a STAGED accident. NO ONE was in the car when it went off the bridge. It was accelerating on the bridge, not decelerating. He brings real physics (like F=ma! from an Australian Physics Professor. I also have a Physics Degree.) into the discussion. Some may be too technical for some but it's real nonetheless. Mary Jo was already dead (or dying, I need to read on or reread) when she was inserted into the car.

So, was the coroner in on the ruse, too? How did they get Mary Jo to drown and then insert her into the car?
First I heard that.
Just look at the picture of the bridge on the book cover. It is a ten foot drop into the water, hardly a death drop. The autopsy report also stated she had water in her lungs. Ted Kennedy wasn’t seen wet because he waited 9 hours before calling the police.
“Chappaquiddick Speaks” Finished the book yesterday. Had some very interesting and new points for me. A bit over long and repetitive, but thought provoking. The day after the “accident” Nixon had an investigator on the scene asking all the questions the regular authorities avoided. And before he reported the accident to the police, Kennedy had made 17 phone calls; one of which was to his private pilot who spirited Mary Jo off the island. He also called his then German mistress twice. The mistress knew before the cops. What a guy.
