4 Billboards In Kansas Call For Charges Against Cop Who Shot Unarmed 'Swatting' Victim

Four billboards have appeared in Wichita, Kansas; all of them bearing the same somber message: “Andy Finch is dead. If you believe in justice, it’s time to file charges.”

In December, a Wichita police officer fatally shot Andy Finch after a fake emergency call directed law enforcement to the 28-year-old victim’s home. A man in California has since been charged with involuntary manslaughter for the so-called “swatting” hoax call, but the victim’s family and community activists have repeatedly called for the officer who killed Finch — who was unarmed at the time of the shooting — to come under greater scrutiny. The officer has not been charged with a crime.

"That certainly doesn’t describe any cops that I know..."

Research the term "cognitive dissonance", go to any cop shop in small town USA, and just perhaps, tho I doubt it, you MIGHT catch a clue.

Look in the mirror when you are about to go out and terrorize.
Gargoyles? Check.
Black, bloused, cargo pants and combat boots?
Black wrist length, skin tight gloves? Check.
Black combat Molle vest/body armor, with SWAT tab, 6 14 round mags totaling 111 HP +P+ rounds, and a body cam that's turned off? Check.
Taser, so you can run a little street interrogation? Check.
Drop piece, in case you get a questionable shoot? Check.
Command voice, so you can scream at every 94 year old lady driver? Check.

Cops have used up ALL their good will.

Then why bother even discussing this any further.

Are you really going to try to tell us the shooting of Andy Finch was an “accidental discharge”?

Can you cite a single shooting of a private citizen by “law enforcement” that you consider to be unjustified?

Wrong board? I’m not a knee-jerk conservative who thinks just because liberals hate the police I should love everything they do. Shooting Michael Brown was justified, shooting without provocation is not. Summary execution is not why I support the police.

When the police made the transition from “peace officers” to “law enforcement” and drew the Thin Blue Line, that was the beginning of the police war on their employers (all the rest of us).

“I contend it would benefit the rule of law and the cause of liberty.”

No, you don’t. You haven’t even bothered to find out what happened before demanding heads.

You don’t give a crap about liberty or rule of law. Your objective is merely to drum up hostility against the police, regardless of the truth.

“...Black, bloused, cargo pants and combat boots?”

Nope. Nothing like that in this town, nor do the State Police go around looking like that.

I understand the function of the police, and that function is not to “save” anyone.

No. When people put their lives on the line for you, you give them the benefit of the doubt; or else, it is your duty to fend for yourself.

And Justine Diamond?

Even the media has been informed that there was a call about a murder and hostage situation at the residence. And the unarmed resident went out onto his porch to see what was going on.

Alone.

And because he didn’t keep his hands above his head, as instructed, an officer shot him in the chest.

What else is there to know?

What other hypothetical circumstances would alter your assessment? Or, a fair assessment?

If your suggestion, properly parsed, is that my intention is to see this officer prosecuted for murder, you are correct.

And it is those who protect LEO when they are in the wrong that don’t give a crap about liberty or the rule of law. In fact, they are enemies of same.

“If your suggestion, properly parsed, is that my intention is to see this officer prosecuted for murder, you are correct.”

Before you have any idea whether there are grounds to charge him. That is despicable.

Don’t pretend that you have any other objective than to harm the country by fomenting hatred for the police.

The police are doing a damn fine job of fomenting that for themselves.

“Before you have any idea whether there are grounds to charge him.”

The law says he cannot be charged if it was “an accident”, or if he believed himself, or anyone else, was in immediate danger.

Which would be a ludicrous assertion on his part, but one he’ll make nevertheless.

And this is based on fact that are KNOWN.

However, I am an advocate eliminating Qualified Immunity protections from all LEO. I don’t believe it serves any purpose in the public interest, and serves only the interests of rogue officers.

http://injury.findlaw.com/torts-and-personal-injuries/wrongful-death-by-police.html

While you can insist I intend to “harm the country by fomenting hatred for the police” may sound good to your small understanding, most regular citizens can see the value of holding police to the very same standards as regular citizens.

And that will be good for this country.

Oh, and by the way, you are the one who is defending a position that is despicable. One that assumes LEO should be immune from common law no matter what they do.

As for charging this officer, if he is not guilty he will not be convicted. But the Blue Wall presupposes his innocence while the citizenry has good reason to question it.

...the police are unlikely to wait to see if you have a gun. They are going to expect you to follow orders.

Good thing no citizens are hard of hearing, have poor eyesight, are confused by three or four coppers shouting conflicting orders, are handicapped, disabled or old and physically not agile, are frightened or startled, have poor eyesight, have no cognitive delay, have perfect balance.

Yeah this cop is a real hero and so brave pit bulls, alligators and pumas die of fright if they get within 44 feet of him.

No, it doesn’t.

No, it’s not. It’s based on your assumptions.

“you are the one who is defending a position that is despicable. One that assumes LEO should be immune from common law no matter what they do.”

Well, now you’re just lying.

“As for charging this officer, if he is not guilty he will not be convicted.”

Charging him will ruin his life, even if he is not guilty. That is why men of good faith want an investigation prior to the hanging.

“But the Blue Wall presupposes his innocence”

Get treatment.
