I’m a little confused. As far as I can tell, he wasn’t eligible for immediate retirement unless he’s under some plan I’ve never heard of. He has the time in service, but won’t be 50 until May.

I believe he is eligible to apply for deferred retirement, once he hits his minimum retirement age of 55 or so, depending on his year of birth.

McCabe will be 50 on March 18, 2018. He would be eligible for early retirement which includes lifetime medical coverage.

Now he will have to buy his own Obamacare and get a job.
