That's sounds like a fantasy.
I believe it is against DOJ policy to play politics with investigations and indictments and especially timing such things before an election.
Or Dhimmi Carter's announcement of a significant action against Iran (it turned out to be the failed hostage rescue attempt when desert sand got into the helicopter engines) right before an important primary?
Or that little matter of Ted Stevens in Alaska?
“I believe it is against DOJ policy to play politics with investigations and indictments and especially timing such things before an election.”
Yes, it is.
Larry Schweikart on twitter (LS, here on Free Republic) also thinks that the investigations into the former Obama/Clinton will not be timed to the election in any way.
I just think that they would have to be extremely obtuse not to see the existential threat of Democratic takeover of the House, and impeachment. Ultimately though, a failed impeachment might even hurt the Dems more than none (the Senate looks secure to stay in Republican hands).
With Sessions being a repeated elected office holder, I just think that he will naturally appreciate the electoral impacts of all of this. Ultimately though, I do think that his priority will go to getting as many of the guilty convicted for the most offenses, rather than just the election.
In any event, I expect that he will try to keep everything undercover as long as possible - until the raids and arrests make it apparent.
