Ex-Clinton aide calls on lieutenant governor to step down over affair

A former aide to Hillary Clinton who is now a California gubernatorial candidate demanded this week that her rival step down as lieutenant governor because of an affair he had over a decade ago.
Gubernatorial front-runner Gavin Newsom, a Democrat who served as mayor of San Francisco more than a decade ago, had an affair with one of his City Hall aides, who was also married to his campaign manager at the time, The Sacramento Bee reported.
Newsom’s rival, Democrat Amanda Renteria, declared in a Facebook post Thursday that the affair makes him unfit for office.
