A whistleblower in the southern California construction industry says illegal alien workers have taken over every trade in the business while driving down wages by an estimated 40 percent.
...
Blaine Taylor, the whistleblower, said the construction industry in California once offered a starting wage of about $45 an hour in the late 1980s. Fast-forward to 2018 nearly two decades into when illegal aliens began flooding the industry he now says that wages have fallen by more than half, standing at just $11 an hour.

I know someone in upstate South CAROLINA of all places - not a hotbed of illegal immigration by any stretch - who got let go for inability to speak enough Spanish to manage a bunch of Mexicans on a construction job.
Indians have been doing the same thing in the IT industry. They get entrenched somewhere and the ethnic cleansing is sure to follow.
Your comment is really naive. I'm behind enemy lines in CA, and I've seen what the economic destruction did to tens of thousands of American citizens. Million of low wage illegal aliens have depressed wages significantly in nearly every sector in the Southwest.
A few decades ago, citizens were making good money in construction, $25 and $35. per hour back then and that was good money. Now? They pay tens of thousands of these illegals 11 bucks an hour... And you don't think this has significantly depressed wages? It's like dominos. You have no clue.
How bad is it Mr. Hoot? So bad many industries such as construction and warehousing had to hire illegal bilingual supervisors so the greedy unscrupulous assh*les running these businesses owners can communicate with their low wage illegal help.
Btw, you got a computer right? There are thousands of articles and stories that will explain to ya just how significantly illegals have eff'd over wages in venues like S. CA.
Look it up.
that’s the question...the unions....must be huge payments to the union leader/thugs to sacrifice their fellow union members such as this...
Judging by the bridge collapse at FIU, looks like ditto in Florida.
Exactly!
“figure of $45 per hr is absurd”
No, it’s not. My dad “broke me in”
(a union term) to hanging Sheetrock
when I was in high school, in northern
California, in 1969-1970. At that time
“rockers” we’re paid by the square foot.
At .07 per square, he was making close
to $100,000 a year. A little over $45
an hour....
Interesting to note, there weren’t many
rockers over 40. The pace was very demanding,
and it was hard physical work.
and taxpayers take it on the back end to pay for social welfare costs.
I really thought we were at war on Sept. 11, 2001 and President Bush would send troops from Fort Hood to the border on Sept 12th.
Instead he reduced border and interior enforcement.
It’s sad to see what’s happened to Virginia.
We are nowhere near the border.
I was in South Carolina 7 years ago and was surprised to see them swarming there, too.
All of South Carolina’s Congressional delegation are Cheap Labor Express stooges.
But illegals create opportunities we are told.
The GOP has been actively blocking efforts by the citizens to stop the illegal alien inundation.
Until Trump broke through the Bush blockade at the RNC we were only offered amnesty candidates.
When we had the temerity to nominate someone for other offices who was on our side instead of with the illegal aliens and their employers, the GOP teams with the Democrats to elect the Democrat.
Hang’n rock, sucks.
Indeed. I barely recognize it now.
What would be useful to me is for someone directly involved on the business side of CA trades with respect to inputting personal experiences. Are these numbers accurate or not?
I have personally experienced illegals in the trades largely working at lower rungs of the wage pyramid with the paying customers largely lower income themselves. At the highest level of the trades, the employers are less likely to be complicit with employing illegals because of liabilities. As an extreme example, several decades ago, there was an explosion at a Texas petrochemical plant during the yearly maintenance shutdown. 47 people were killed, mostly the contract maintenance workers. The root cause is non-english speaking workers and their supervisors had no clue from their safety orientation what lock-out tag-out was nor with the daily task specific instructions were. So, the idiots cut off a padlock from a valve then opened the valve thus flooding a tank with combustible gas that promptly blew up. The petrochemical and refining companies forced reform on the regional safety council to play it straight regarding basic and advanced certifications and this radically weeded out lots of illegals by itself from this higher level within the wage pyramid. Still though, illegals get into the plants largely through maintenance contractors, mainly via larger crews working shutdowns.
