True. Fortunately, I live in Texas. Plenty of daylight hours here.
Here in MI it will stay light until after 11 pm and start getting light again at 4 am. That screws up your body clock!
I remember that! I was a very young lad, but I do remember that!
Grew up on the farm in Nebraska. Didn’t matter the time, we were up before dawn.
Just pick one and stick to it.
>>I would prefer year round not daylight savings time...

Me, too.
He’s my Senator. Did he think to poll the citizens on this MAJOR issue that would affect everyone? Nah. He’s not interested because he doesn’t represent us, he represents his donor owners.
Same here.
Split the difference. Fall back 30 minutes and make everyone mad.
I would love this.
They should be homeschooled anyhow.
If we split the difference, itd be an even hour time difference to... Afghanistan.
Not a good selling point. :)
I think it depends on which end of the time zone--east or west--you are.
If it makes sense always, why not just skip an hour forward world wide, effectively shifting the zones one hour (or roughly 1000 miles) to the east?
Must be that more daylight means more time for fun foam parties and stage shows in cha cha boots.
Time to arm da kiddies.
I don’t care how DST originated. I want that extra hour of daylight at the end of the day and not having to change the time twice a year.
I agree with Rubio on this. Arizona never changes their clocks.
That is what is maddening to me about this.
It was tried, within my lifetime, which does not yet qualify as ancient history. It FAILED.
And yet Rubio seems blissfully unaware of this as he proposes to try again.
Not in my acreage subdivision in west Ocala (we are deep in the woods). Bus stops are about a half a mile apart.
I've seen too many kids running around playing while waiting for the bus (in the dark) while people are driving by going to work. Some of these kid's parents, if not most, have already left for work and can not sit with their kids; they have to leave them on their own. Tough for a first or second-grader, heart-breaking for a kindergartner...
Sure there are some parents there, sitting in their cars with their kids. But some of these kids have to walk half-a-mile or so, in the dark, to the bus stop.
As to DST: one way or the other. Changing back and forth twice a year is really stupid.
Can we rid our country of this ancient artifact known as Daylight Saving Time?
Florida certainly doesn’t need it any more than Arizona! Both are located far south in the country and are far west in their respective time zones. This proposal is to, in effect, change Florida to Atlantic Standard Time and putting it in sync with Nova Scotia and Puerto Rico, both of which are far east of Florida. FL would be an hour ahead of Atlanta, Washington, D.C., NYC and the rest of the east coast during the winter months. This is utterly ridiculous!!
The legislation passed recently in Florida is a sop for special interests which started out as a bill to do in Florida what was done in Arizona. Instead, it moves us to Atlantic Standard Time. Florida would be a “time island” in the winter months. Georgia and the Bahamas would be on Standard time while FL would be an hour ahead.
Enough of this absurdity, and enough of this twice yearly fooling with the clocks! Abolish DST and go to Standard Time - ALL the time!
I’m all for it!
