Doen’t every president declare something like this then after a few billion dollars gets spent on research the next president cancels the project?

Yes, but...

Name one thing which Donald Trump said he was going to do, which he is not currently working on?

Just one.

A couple weeks ago, I would have said “build our wall on the southern border”, and “get much, much, much tougher on trade with the world’s biggest trade cheat, China”.

I would have said both of those things. I would have said them loudly, and increasingly I would have said them as someone who is starting to doubt the President, who I have supported since very early.

Now am very enthusiastic once again.

So. Speaking of our President now. What has he said he would do, which he is not now not currently working on?

Hmm?

If you watch NASA work, you realize this is their plan. They plod along, spending money until the program is cancelled. NASA has no intention of ever sending humans anywhere because every plan requires 20 or more years, guaranteeing that they can count on a democratic administration to cancel the whole thing after billions has been spent but well before they actually have to do anything that carries any real risk.

The present is not the past.

There are private efforts that can be very useful. In the old days, there was not such research and actual development to grow on. It is not your grandad’s obsolete Oldsmobile
