President Donald Trump has grown irritated with his embattled Veterans Affairs secretary, David Shulkin, and is now making plans to remove him from his post, two sources familiar with the move tell CNN.
Trump has eyed Energy Secretary Rick Perry as a possible replacement, a person familiar with the matter said.
Trump and Perry discussed the possible move during a lunch at the White House Monday.

Rick Perry is an Islamist?
And a main reason he's a multi-billionaire.
Of course not. He’s a God-fearing Bible-believing Christian.
The political animal that Perry is would refuse the VA job in a New York minute. It’s a no-win situation where you are both trying to reign in runaway spending and be accountable for every soldier that dies in a hospital.
The VA job is just a set-up to be fired. The only reason for taking it would be because you are close to a federal pension but need a few more months.
Kelly succeeds Reince, Nielsen succeeds Kelly, Pompeo succeeds Tillerson and Haspel succeeds Pompeo. If nothing else it’s a good strategy to blunt the democrats confirmation hearing grandstanding. Hard for them to get all up in arms over people they’ve already confirmed once.
What the hell are you talking about? Rick Perry is an Islamist???
The VA is overwhelmed. There are too many veta for the VA to treat. Try finding a parking space if you get there after 8:00 am. It’s impossible in Houston. A doctor told me if he gets there after 8 he has to park off campus and walk. A friend in Johnson City, TN tells me it the same there.
Agree

Whaat?
The real question is - is CNN a reliable source?
So is this more fake news about President Trump’s people?
Again, this is how Great CEO’s work.
Find people who get things done. Have them solve problems in one dept and then move then to another.
Perry has clearly repaired DOE, now on to VA
Perry should stay where he’s at until Cruz gets appointed to SCOTUS. Make him Senator. No drama.
The staff have their own lot, same as in almost any hospital or medical building.
We have been members of Kaiser Permanete as Medi Care Patients for about 6 months.
The care is truly excellent.
We have met a few military retirees, who have both Kaiser and whatever VA/Military they can find.
If the company I retired from can combine their plan with Kaiser/Medicare, the federal government can work out a plan to allow our vets get excellent care at Kaiser.
Our government probably spends more $’s day/week/month/year for care of our Vets than it would cost at Kaiser.
Keep our military hospitals for active duty personnel and their families.
Would Rafael be the first foreign born SC Justice?
There have been six foreign-born justices in the Court's history:
James Wilson (1789-1798), born in Caskardy, Scotland;
James Iredell (1790-1799), born in Lewes, England;
William Paterson (1793-1806), born in County Antrim, Ireland;
David Brewer (1889-1910), born to American missionary parents in Smyrna, Ottoman Empire (now İzmir, Turkey);
George Sutherland (1922-1939), born in Buckinghamshire, England;
and Felix Frankfurter (1939-1962), born in Vienna, Austria.
In my opinion, if Trump thinks that any subordinate is not doing a good, that subordinate is just dumped. Anybody getting moved to another job, is likely being sent as a troubleshooter, based on a good assessment in their last assignment.
In the case of Rick Perry though, he might get special treatment, because of his unique value with the big oil money, and hard core conservative donors.
Department of Energy is a bit like EPA - stopping them from doing things is the real measure of success.
Just keep this guy far away from border/immigration issues.
Excellent points by both of you...
