President Trump has ousted Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and replaced him with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, orchestrating a major change to his national security team amid delicate negotiations with North Korea, White House officials said Tuesday.
Trump last Friday asked Tillerson to step aside, and the embattled top diplomat cut short his trip to Africa on Monday to return to Washington.

Wonder how Tillerson found out?
Tillerson is a Globalist, and was not in tune with Trump’s agenda which puts America ahead of other countries.
John Roberts on Fox saying Trump requested his resignation on Friday.
CIA Director Mike Pompeo will take over as secretary of state, and his deputy, Gina Haspel, will become the new CIA director, according to Trumps tweet.

Isnt Gina Haspel the woman portrayed in Zero Dark Thirty?
Drivel
Actually, Tillerson was a man of the world. he did not hide his head in the sand in isolation.
Drivel, Tillerson is a Globalist, he wasn’t in tune with Trump on anything. He should have left along time ago.
That's pretty much the story that's being reported - Trump wanted a change before beginning negoiations with North Korea. Remember that Tillerson undercut Trump last fall when Trump went hard on little Rocket Man and Tillerson was saying their needed to be talks with them. Trump's position has brought the NK dictator to the table but with the US in charge.
Concur, Pompeo is a great choice. I think Tillerson was a good “on paper” pick, but something just wasn’t right, or in sync. Not sure if his heart wasn’t really in it, or if he was too used to being the captain of a large corporation or what, but this is probably a very good smoothing out transition for the long haul. Nothing wrong with aligning the cabinet to play to people’s strengths.
Remember when Tillerson was said to have called Trump an idiot, or some such?
I watched ole Rex on a Sunday show and when asked about that incident, he churlishly responded that he wasn’t going to talk about that.
Now if he Hadn’t called the president an idiot, I think he would have denied it with a passion.
Then I knew it was only a matter of time. A president simply cannot have a Sec of State that they can’t trust and who doesn’t like them.
And let’s not forget it was Tillerson who was part of the move to allow girls in Boy Scouts.
I am glad he’s finally gone.
And he totally differed with Trump about North Korea.
As someone who worked in the State Department for 28 years, I would not be so quick to go after Tillerson. The State bureaucracy had a target on Tillerson’s back from the day he was announced to be the next SecState. There is a huge resistance movement in State that has been undermining him from Day One.
Tillerson was trying to reduce the size of the State Department. The employee unions within State have been openly antagonistic against him. Pompeo had better understand that he will be the next target.
Never heard of her.
I think this is called director-itis. Once the boss always the boss. Not good when national security is at stake.
I hope that it’s true that Pompeo will be the new SoS. I was concerned that we’d be stuck with the shrill airhead Nimrata Haley instead. The McCain-Graham wing of the GOP doesn’t need any more of a foothold in the Trump White House than it already has.
Thanks for your insight. I totally buy into the fact that State hated Tillerson. And in that regard, Tillerson did do a great job trying to disinfect State from decades of leftist infiltration and subversion.
So, I’m not really critical of Tillerson as much as I think there was something not in sync between Tillerson and the administration. I have a lot of respect for Tillerson, although I may not agree with all his positions.
Ahhhh. Good.
She is a career bureaucrat. Debatable about good a pick she may be. Brennan was a career officer as well. There are only two politically appointed jobs in the CIA, the Director and the Deputy.
