Democratic Governor Jerry Brown once fought to keep out South Vietnamese refugees from being delivered to his state during his first stint as governor of California in the 1970’s. Although he remains silent on the crisis that is happening on the southern border of his state, Brown’s position via legislation previously signed regarding illegal immigrants from Mexico Central America and South America is more favorable than the cool response he gave to the Vietnamese refugees who had escaped the tyrannical Viet Cong.

But Jerry isn't California a sanctuary state? I guess it's a sanctuary for south of the border future democrat refugees but not anti-communist Vietnamese refugees. Old article but shows the governor's and the state's hypocrisy.
It’s because the Vietnamese people work for a living and save their money consequently they are not at the mercy of the dems in power. They might even vote Republican!
Yup, Brown would slam the door on anyone who might be anti-Communist (or Socialist) - regardless of the fact that these refugees actually faced death. As opposed to rolling out the welcome mat to the current crop of illegal intruders who enter the USA in search of free handouts.

That changed after 1992 and now they’re Democrat supporters.
Past statements like this are never a problem for Democrats.
They just say they’ve “evolved,” or they’ve “grown,” and blame society or Republicans for making them do bad things in the past.

South Vietnamese refuges were not socialists - at least not in any great numbers.
But some time around the late '80s and early '90s they realized that they were losing big time among the citizens of many generations, and that if they didn't flood the country with Third World immigrants, legally and illegally, that would no longer be a viable political party.
Strictly political opportunism. You sure can't accuse any of these Dims of having any consistent standards or principles, or any concern about what their policies will do to this nation in the long run. Just looking toward the next few elections.
