North Korea Is Willing to Discuss Giving Up Nuclear Weapons, South Says
NYT ^ | 6 Mar 2018 | CHOE SANG-HUN

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un, has told South Korean envoys that his country is willing to begin negotiations with the United States on abandoning its nuclear weapons and that it would suspend all nuclear and missile tests while it is engaged in such talks, South Korean officials said on Tuesday.

During the envoys’ two-day visit to Pyongyang, the North’s capital, which ended on Tuesday, the two Koreas also agreed to hold a summit meeting between Mr. Kim and President Moon Jae-in of South Korea on the countries’ border in late April, Mr. Moon’s office said in a statement.

“The North Korean side clearly stated its willingness to denuclearize,” the statement said. “It made it clear that it would have no reason to keep nuclear weapons if the military threat to the North was eliminated and its security guaranteed.”

If the statement is corroborated by North Korea, it would be the first time Mr. Kim has indicated that his government is willing to discuss giving up nuclear weapons in return for security guarantees from the United States. Until now, North Korea has said its nuclear weapons were not for bargaining away.

“The North expressed its willingness to hold a heartfelt dialogue with the United States on the issues of denuclearization and normalizing relations with the United States,” the statement said. “It made it clear that while dialogue is continuing, it will not attempt any strategic provocations, such as nuclear and ballistic missile tests.”

NK is still dangerous risk. Trump is a risk taker, you have to be if you are in a business. Remember, one of our high IQ mensa congress critters has warned us that if NK attacks the USA, Trump will get us into a war. I trust NK promises as much as I would Uncle Joe and Adolf. Trump isn’t Chamberlain, Obama would be suckered in and his close advisors would be right there with him, to help him make the decision. (Which would really be theirs.) Little Kim doesn’t need our money, he probably prints as much USA dollars as we do.

Sounds fairly optimistic to me. I give it two chances - slim and none...when he targets the US with active nukes, he will be magnanimous in his declarations - “I won’t destroy the US if you give me what I want.” He will get a Nobel Prize for being nice nice.

I have no doubt that it will not work with DJT.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me,
Fool me thrice, call me Obama!

This is the repeat of same old series. NK always throws a curve ball after major confrontations. It buys time and frequently throws the other side off until they make a next push. The pressure on Kim or NK regime insiders is not hard enough yet. He is using SK as a shield and an agent for sowing confusion, attempting to derail US and its allies' efforts to corner NK with airtight sanction.

NK is trying to neutralize U.S. military efforts. Troops are massing in March and April. NK wants SK to disrupt overall military planning of U.S..

It is nothing to celebrate about and actually a very serious problem. Because we have willing NK agents in S. Korea's ruling circle.

This time around, there is a potential that this would be a part of more sustained efforts. In addition to running interference against U.S., they will attempt to yank SK from alliance with U.S. and create sizable solid appeasement constituency in SK.

“The NYT, which habitually infers that our president is a pathological liar, immediately and unquestioningly accepts the word of a murdering dictator.”

Exactly!

The Norks are just buying time. They can be trusted about as much as the Demwit party.

Lemme guess...we give them $10 trillion...in small bills...shipped the same way Obola shipped that cash to Iran...and they promise to destroy their nukes in 50 years (no inspections allowed).

I smell a stupid kid who has no idea what capitalism really is, no idea what a market economy is, never started a business, never hired anyone, never met a payroll and outside of a police state, never built anything in his life. Anyone raised in a capitalist society knows when negotiating a deal you don't throw your best card down on the first hand. This kid says he will denuclearize before the dealig has even started. Ok, great if he means it but, well, what the hell as old W.C Fields always used to say "Never smarten up a chump!''.

Winning?

Far from it.

This is all inconclusive.
