Back tracking on news...

Sanders also cited the nomination of Dr Yleem Poblete to be Asst Secy of State for Arms Control Verification and Compliance. Said Poblete has been waiting nearly 150 days for confirmation and is needed to represent US at intl meetings on Syria's use of chemical weapons.

WH confirms Pres Trump will make his first visit to California next week since taking office.

At press briefing, Sanders says @POTUS expected to sign steel and aluminum tariffs by end of the week. Expects there to be exemptions for Mexico and Canada - and for NATO allies on country-by-country basis.

Pres says Congressional Democrats don't want to approve his infrastructure proposal "because they don’t want to give us victory." And on DACA, he says Democrats "are no where to be found.”*****

Welcome @edatpost to CBS News as political correspondent based in DC. Great to have you. Ed spent 13 years at @washingtonpost and began as a contributor to @CBSNews last year. Begins on the job April 15th.**NIKK-Hope this means the WPost is down sizing.

TARIFFS? Pres announces afternoon meeting on steel and aluminum industries. Stops short of saying he'll sign tariffs. 107 House Republicans wrote him yesterday warning of unanticipated consequences. WH has said there's be "carve outs" for Canada, Mexico & others.

Donald J. Trump- ‏ Looking forward to 3:30 P.M. meeting today at the White House. We have to protect & build our Steel and Aluminum Industries while at the same time showing great flexibility and cooperation toward those that are real friends and treat us fairly on both trade and the military.

Also on the President's schedule today: He has a late-morning Cabinet meeting and later - a roundtable with members of Congress and videogame makers on the impact of games portraying violence on school shooting incidents.

In a discussion of school shootings last month, Pres Trump said video games, movies and "Internet stuff" are "so violent. It's so incredible." Said he's shocked at what he has seen son Barron watching. @ESAGovAffairs ridicules linking real world violence to video games.
