Scot School Resource Officer Who Failed to Confront Mass Shooter Previously Defended Cops Living at School Rent-Free, the 54-year-old Marjory Stoneman Douglas school resource officer who resigned after security footage revealed he made no effort to engage alleged mass killer Nikolas Cruz during the rampage last week, previously lobbied Broward County school officials to continue funding a program that allowed cops to live in mobile homes on school property rent-free. ---SNIP--- The housing program for school resource officers wasn't really about safety. It was welfare for state employees. Seen through this lens, Peterson's utter failure to confront the shooter isn't particularly surprisin

to continue funding a program that allowed cops to live in mobile homes on school property rent-free
I think I will forward this to the IRS, this is called “INCOME” and is Taxable. Did all these fine Public Servant cowards Report this and Pay Taxes on it???
Better concept, move the Police Pct next to the schools. Build a group of schools 1-6. 6-9, 9-12 around a Pct..
Could you just see a card board cutout of this officer in the lobby of the school meanwhile he’s in his free apartment in his underwear in front of the TV eating doritos
(Worst visual ever!) I would get a golf cart and mok it up to look like a police car and park in front of the school
Some cops actually lived on school grounds--Rent-Free
The cop housing program let them pocket more money as they put in the time to collect their pensions.
One of the greedy officers tried to sublet his mobile home to a non officer.
The live in officers failed to respond to 73% of alarms.....they were too busy tabulating their holdings and checking on their offshore accounts.
Yes, and instead of erecting a new facility have a hand full of officers muster in a school parking lot for the early morning shift, and return as needed to do paper work, have lunch, etc. from the comfort of their own RMPs.
Coward County owns its very own Lamborghini, AND it houses its bum cops for free at the local high school!
A mini cop station on a campus would not be a bad idea. Like you said it could be used paper work, breaks, lunch etc. I am sure the ACLU would find something objectionable about the idea.
This would be the deal setup for a cop who was also a pedo.
The Coward of Broward wanted to live rent free?
That’s nice.
There was a caller on one of the shows whose school district called in the local cops the day after Sandy Hook to come in and make recommendations.
Unfortunately I was driving and couldnt take notes, but a number of the suggestions were dead simple.
One was to invite the cops to do their report writing at the school, giving them a frequent and random presence there, rather than at the local Starbucks. They implemented that one the very next day.
Another was to have the SROs (School Resource Officers) keep their ARs in a readily accessible safe on the campus, rather than require them to leave them out in their cars.
Others required a bit more work, restricting entry to a single point, ability to lock down zones to isolate an assailant, and to provide video feed from their existing cameras to responding officers in their patrol cars.
Here in Anchorage the school vandalism is so bad that during summer break, the school has folks park their RVs at the school, gives power, water and a weekly pump out on the District’s dime.
It has reduced the level of vandalism. Want to spend a summer in AK? Live in your RV at no park costs? Apply to the Anchorage School District. ASDK12.org.
Having the police filling out reports at random, unpredictable times removes the certainty that there will be no resistance.
Even if there doesnt happen to be a squad car in that parking lot at any given moment, no wackadoodle or terrorist can ever discount the possibility that one could show up just as they are fixin to get started!
Sadly, there is an unintended consequence the left is certain to resist, it allows the students to associate with police in a non-confrontational setting and gets them to associate the police with safety. For the police, they see kids who are NOT a problem every day. This cant help but reduce the Us vs Them mentality on both sides. That simply cant be allowed to happen...

There was a large shopping mall about 15 miles from us. It was the only mall we ever shopped at. The local city established a mini cop station in the center of the mall and had two smaller comfort stations at the ends of the mall.
About 9 years ago during the Bush/Bammy economic down turn, the city closed the cop stations during in late September.
Within a couple of weeks, the mall was controlled by roving gangs of various skin colors and no cops. The mall had a couple of good high end fast food restaurants. If I was in the area, I would go to one of the restaurants and do other shopping for my wife.
I told my wife about what had happened and she could not believe it. I took her over on one of her days off. We decided not to eat lunch in her favorite restaurant due to some possible gang interactions. The aisles were loaded with gang members and students roaming on lunch breaks.
We left and she said that she was not coming back. She told her bridge group, and they laughed. 2 gals from that group in separate were accosted on separate days in the parking lot, and they had their purchases stolen during a lunch hour shopping trip. The cops told them that since there where no injuries, to send a report to their main office.
The bridge group cancelled their annual Christmas shopping and lunch trip to this mall. They went to Sac for more Christmas seasons/years until the same thing happened there.
One has to wonder if what was done in that City/county area re removing the cops and not arresting the teen age thugs was the same as what we are reading about re latest school shooting. No reports on actual crimes equals a lower crime and arrest rate.
Basically, most major cities/counties in California are not arresting anyone for assault and major theft. That keeps their crime rate down and minimal teens being arrested.
For over a decade during Steelhead and Shad fishing seasons, I used to go and park in the American River Park in Sac. with no problems.
Then, the sheriff’s and local park cops basically stopped patrolling the parking areas. The gangs descended on the parked trucks/vehicles and broke into the vehicles stealing everything they could get their hands. One guide had a brand new pickup truck, and they stole gear and his catalytic mufflers while he was parked there for few hours.
However, the reported crime rate is down in those areas.
Also, fewer teen thugs are being arrested for their crimes.
Featherbedding.
Yet another layer in this onion of FAIL.
Move a DONUT SHOP next to the school! Only in Broward though1

>
Better still, build mini-prisons and schools right next to each other. Secured yards, secured entries, police w/ arms on premises, cameras
Don’t need far to go w/ the trouble-makers.
It’s a WIN WIN WIN, no?
