Abbott Has a Dire Warning About Democratic Turnout in 2018 Primaries

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott warned supporters in a fundraising email Monday about Democrats’ turnout for the March primary, which he says should “shock every conservative to their core.”

So far, more Democrats have voted early than Republicans, Dallas News reports.

Through Sunday in the 15 Texas counties with the most registered voters, 135,070 people had voted in the Republican primary and 151,236 in the Democratic. Compared to the first six days of early voting in 2014, Democratic turnout increased 69 percent, while Republicans saw a 20 percent increase.

The Democrats even surpassed their early voting totals from the 2016 primary — a presidential election year. (DallasNews.com)

“I’ll be blunt: Democrat voter turnout is surging statewide during Early Voting,” Abbott says in the email. “We’ve seen a surge of liberal enthusiasm in deep red states like Georgia, Alabama, and Oklahoma,” it continues. “We had always hoped the liberal wave would never hit Texas, but these Early Voting returns aren’t encouraging so far.”

Abbott isn’t the only Republican in the state warning about voter turnout.

Earlier this month Sen. Ted Cruz said Democratic enthusiasm is high.

“The left are stark raving nuts. ... They have full-on Trump derangement,” he said. “They will crawl over broken glass in November to vote. ... We could get obliterated at the polls.”

“Even if true, it is only a primary election.”

This kind of turnout in the primaries might actually hurt the Democrats in the fall, if those turning up to vote are those furthest to the left - as with those pushing for a more liberal candidate than Feinstein in California. Probably won't hurt in California, but definitely could in other places.

I totally agree. We got socked in VA last November due to a LACKLUSTER state and RNC effort in turnout. It was Jeb Bushleague.

You prefer Beto over cRuz??

Why would you want to lose a Senate seat to the Dims?

MicTurtle, is that you???

I’m in TX. I’m not a cRuz fan, by any means, but the last thing I want is to give up his seat to the Dims.

There are no real contests in texas except local junk. Ted Cruz wins easy. Thats it. No real motivation. No problem.

You are right on the money, Republican, Ed Gillespie was a weak...”Never Trump” candidate. Had the Conservative guy that almost beat Gillespie in the Pubbie primary, won that primary...Virginia would have a Republican Governor, today!!! Also, Luther Strange, the Donald J. Trump favored candidate for Senate in Alabama would have easily won the race that ‘loose end” Judge Roy Moore lost to the Democrat.

I think the point that most establishment Republicans miss is that we are very angry with them. We are angry at their inability to get anything done and are also angry at the lack of cooperation that they give the President.

Without Trump on the ballot most voters have no desire to support Repubs. I will only vote in the next election to protect Donald Trump from impeachment, not because I have any enthusiasm for republicans.

They’ll just do their voting for them, if they don;t turn out.

Like they did against Moore.

95% turnout??? ridiculous.

the left will be hit hard with voter roll reform soon... as per the 100k illegals on the rolls in PA; about 5 million estimated for all 50 states... trump will set this straight before midterm elections.

If it came to that, yes. Consider what we otherwise do, vote for a known liar, a Never Trumper, maybe listen to the opportunistic lies, only to have them go back to their RINO and lying ways days after the election. We do this every time. Look at all of the Republicans that voted over and over to kill Obamacare until when their vote would do it and the changed their mind. Don’t forget that Lyn’ Ted is a Never Trumper at heart, that he was with Cheetos Beck handing out teddy bears to incoming illegal aliens, that he has crossed Trump multiple times. What difference, when it counts to have Beto in there? At least you know where he stands and you have 6 years to come up with a new candidate.

Earlier this month Sen. Ted Cruz said Democratic enthusiasm is high. Lyn' Ted was quoted: “The left are stark raving nuts. ... They have full-on Trump derangement,” he said. “They will crawl over broken glass in November to vote. ... We could get obliterated at the polls.”

No, you, Lyn' Ted, will get obliterated. Resign now so a real Republican, a real American, an honest Republican, a Trump Republican, can run for that seat in November.

Now is a chance to flush out all of these Never Trumpers.

The posts in this thread are all valid rationale for this phenomenon. But how is Sanders vs Hillary a factor?

By the way, another factor to mention: this data is from “the 15 Texas counties with the most registered voters” - mostly Dem cities, so the raw numbers shouldn’t be as much of a concern.

They’re thrilled into a frenzy by the promise of getting enough Democrats into Congress to impeach and try President Trump, confiscate firearms from conservatives and open the borders to hundreds of millions of their third world allies. They’re resolving to vote, because they see complacency on the Republican side and might be able to pull it off: the same complacency that we’re seeing right here in these threads.

They see socialism and as being the only way to get what they want: to get revenge against all of the conservative villains of their imaginations.

I have two recommended Texas ballots, from different ‘conservative’ groups.

One supports Jerry Patterson, for Commissioner of the Gen Land Office, to replace Fredo Jorge Bush.

The other ballot supports Jorge.

I’ll take the ballot that has Patterson :-)

The people of the radical left (especially public school teachers, academics and other government employees) watch our discussion boards like hawks. When they see us so sure that we’ll win without bothering to vote in midterms, they get hysterical with excitement and determination to vote. They rally many millions of young students, teachers and others reared in their propaganda to vote and beat us. They get most excited about what they’re going to do to us.

We’re about to see the ‘90s all over again, unless we get going to spread the word.

Not originally. The only satisfaction I get today is the money he wastes each week sending me junk mail, despite my request to be dropped from his mailing list. I figure by November I will have only gotten a fraction of the money I don’t back, wish their was a better way to deprive him of it. Get him to refund or donate it to Trump’s new reelection campaign. Would Lyn’ Ted consider that? Not that I’d stop criticizing him, but it would remove that one problem knowing that he benefited from my money.
