Emily Dumler, 36, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2013 The mother-of three was given six months to live after multiple unsuccessful treatments Feeling hopeless, she entered a clinical trial for a treatment called CAR-T therapy In the trial doctors harness blood cells to seek and destroy cancer cells She wouldn't have qualified for this trial if the other treatments were successful
Emily Dumler stopped planning the rest of her life - or even her year - after two failed cancer treatments left the mother-of-three, then just 34, with six months to live.
But the failure of the second treatment became the best thing that could have happened to her, qualifying Emily to become only the third person in the world to receive an experimental immunotherapy that saved her life.
Emily, of Kansas City, Missouri, was diagnosed with stage three non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in October 2013.
Now, at 36, she has been in remission for over two years and said that immunotherapy saved her life and is the 'future of medicine, but it isn't a walk in the park.'

Is there a similar treatment for stroke victims?
Since strokes aren’t caused by any cells you can target, I doubt this would work as a preventive or post-trauma treatment.
Anyone’s faith would grow substantially after healing from a serious ailment.
Amazing story.
Should have placed more emphasis on publicly thanking God for this great blessing.
This is specifically for cancer - wiping out cancer cells that cannot be taken out by chemo.
I assume this test treatment was not covered by insurance but by those conducting the study?
There is a medication that can reverse the signs and symptoms of a stroke, but it must be given within a 2-3 hour window with the onset of symptoms. The medication is called TPa, which is a clot buster. Therefore the only stroke that it can help is the one from a blood clot. Use of TPa is an automatic admit to ICU.
The signs and symptoms of a stroke are:
B Balance issues
E loss of vision in one of the Eyes
F ask the person to smile it will be unequal, have droop in their Face
A have the person raise their Arms, it will unequal.
S Have the person Speak. It could be slurred, lispy, incoherent.
T You have 2-3 hours of Time to get them to the hospital.

New Hypertension Guide Lines
http://www.wjhg.com/content/news/Medical-Monday-New-blood-pressure-guidelines-473805383.html
I’ve an Enlarged Heart with to small to fix Mitral Valve leak. Perpherial Neuropathy from Spinal Degeneration and a lot of FDA drug induced GI health issues. Landed in the ER Thursday, they totally ignored the Hypertension until it reached 167/110. Gave the Wrong pain med Dilauded, instead of a Gastro Anti-spasm med. Blew 2 major veins. More GI test Monday. Adheshions are the opinion of my Gastro. Never called the Cardio.
But there were employees in scrubs in the smoking area lighting up their WEED.
I am so sorry that you are experiencing this. Unfortunately, these days we are seeing those that are in it for the money instead of having a calling to help others.
Then we are also facing and having to fight a “Fake Opioid Crisis”. Having Gastropresis I can’t take a Opioid on a regular basis. Valium is the only viable out of 13 meds for Perpherial Neuropathy and when my less than adequate Internist quite they promoted a APN to her spot, she is NOT qualified to treat a patient like me. She refused to renew my Valium and just let me Cold Turkey and try to do a 5 month taper with a 2 week left over of current script. I challenge 4 Specialist due to drug ractions.
If you change doctors you get accused of doctor shopping. Or hospital hopping. You don’t have a choice when the facilities you’ve used for years become hell holes of incompentence in Unsafe areas due to crime.
My husband is having the same issue. He is not allowed his pain meds or very many of them at one time. He lives with chronic back pain that has been labeled as inoperable.
We are now treating those that have the legitimate medical diagnosis of chronic pain as criminals and still allowing the criminals to run amok.
What is an APN? Nurse Practitioner?
Guinea Pig Alert. 14 days is not for Intractable Pain Patients, might work for post surgery.
