Skip Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un. Turn our attention to the Olympics in PyeongChang, where all eyes will be on one of the most astounding athletes of all time Lindsey Vonn.
Today she towers over downhill racing.
Vonn could end up the most victorious skier male or female since the invention of gravity. Or snow.
So fearless has been Vonns rise that shes proposing that the Federation Internationale de Ski permit her to enter mens competition in downhill.
A glimpse of Vonns joie de vivre is captured in a wonderful video of her finally meeting Stenmark, the Swedish super-skier whose record total of World Cup wins is now within her grasp.
The young woman invites Stenmark to watch her race. When she breaks his record, he promises. He knows that its by no means certain. But also that, barring tragedy, shes on track to pass him by.
Whats Vonn going to do then?
At first, her proposal to compete in a mens World Cup downhill seemed a bit chimerical. Vonn was turned down so emphatically, there seemed little chance of a change in attitude, Canadas CBC reported.
Vonn, of course, isnt taking no for an answer. Put me in the dang race, she says.
Now there are reports that a revived plan could result in a showdown this year or next on the Alberta slopes of Lake Louise. Wouldnt it be something if the glass ceiling were shattered by a woman moving at 90 miles an hour?

She’s in her 30’s, and is getting old for Olympic-level athletics. She should find a husband and pass her genes onto some kids.
Lindsey is getting a bit ‘long in the tooth’ and she’s an injury waiting to happen. Every time she practiced/got down the hill in Olympic competition, the announcers were commenting that she made it without falling/getting injured. I have no problem with acknowledging the fact that men/women are for the most part very different in size/strength, etc. The men will mop up the downhill with her if she tries to compete with them. Vonn competing with the men is a publicity stunt & nothing more.
And a poorly timed one at that.
Sorry Vonn, no more cereal box covers for you.
Wonder what color panties Seth wears.
LOL bump!
Didn’t she win gold medals in only one Olympics? (2010).
She did well until she caught the jungle fever. After that a lot of crashes.
Shes an over the hill skier who won one Bronze Medal during these Olympics. Time for this Trump bashing lefty to hang it up.
Yep, she can’t be too smart if she dated Tiger Woods.
and That is why she attacked our president like the follywood losers do when they are past their prime.
She bashed my president. I dont watch or listen to her.
HEAR,HEAR!
She was a great skier. Shes now past her prime. And she is an idiot. More than one thing can be true at the same time.
L.Vonn
Three-time Olympic medalist (1 gold, 2 bronze)
PyeongChang 2018, bronze (downhill); 6th (super-G); DNF (alpine combined)
Vancouver 2010, gold (downhill); bronze (super-G); DNF (giant slalom, slalom, super combined)
Torino 2006, 7th (super-G); 8th (downhill); 14th (slalom); DNF (giant slalom)
Salt Lake City 2002, 6th (combined); 32nd (slalom)
4 Olympics: one gold, two bronze. As Olympic stardom goes, that's fairly mediocre.
She did win multiple world championships in between the Olympics.
Yeah, including 35 year old SJW Shani Davis.
“So fearless has been Vonns rise that shes proposing that the Federation Internationale de Ski permit her to enter mens competition in downhill.”
They should let her join the men and make it truly an open league. Since its open to all, based on merit, you can get rid of the women’s only competition. This proves that men and women are equal and compete equally.
Actually I feel sorry for Lindsey Vonn. Because of poor choices, she will be recognized more for her relationship with Tiger and President bashing than her personal accomplishments. She chose poorly in cementing her legacy. I hope younger athletes will learn from her example.
She’s astoundingly repulsive.
Great athletes go out with a bang not a whimper. A gold not a bronze after all that bragging and trash talk.
