YERUSHALAYIM - Amid the ongoing row over Polands new Holocaust speech law, Warsaws embassy in Tel Aviv was painted with swastikas and anti-Polish slogans, according to media reports.
The graffiti was found on gates at the entrance to the Polish embassy, according to the police foreign press spokesperson.
Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
The controversy flared up again over Shabbos as Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki sought to downplay his countrys role in the Holocaust, saying that there were Polish perpetrators, as there were Jewish perpetrators, as there were Russian perpetrators, as there were Ukrainian; not only German perpetrators.
The remark drew an immediate condemnation from Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu during his visit to Germany.
Please explain what the law Holocaust speech law does
Nobody sane blames Poland for the Holocaust. Why did you post this?
It’s been all over the news. I don’t see a problem with posting about it. Some people DO blame the Poles. I think that’s crazy, they were total victims as well.
Why not? Do you think it’s fake news?
I hate to get into it, but Poland is alongside Hungary in Eastern Europe in opposition to EU policy on allowing Muslim migrants in.
I think a lot of this row is ultimately generated by George Soros to intimidate them to buckle under to the EU by trying to paint Poland as anti-Semitic.
Oy vey...who would do such a thing?
Migrants is a very generous term. Invader is more like it. Yeah, hey, Poland is for Poles, all others, F off.
OK, why did they not say that in the article. The article is about as helpful as ‘radio garphiti’.
It made no sense to me.
Thanks for explanation.
BIG Bump!
Charging Poland with collaboration with Germany in WWll is like charging Blacks with arson for the cross that was burnt in their front yard. Also whether you all these “people” migrants or invaders Poland of all European countries has every historical right to control who comes in and who stays. WWll was just the latest in a string of invasions that go back to the beginning of recorded history.
soros
Jews can rightly argue that some Poles were anti-Semitic in the days of Russian rule and during the independence years of the military regime before the Nazis came in and some Poles collaborated during the war with the Nazis.
Folks like many of Israel’s first settlers came from Poland including big names like Jabotinsky from Nationalist Zionism. Jabotinsky is the patriarch of Zionism reflected in the Likud Party today.
The Nazis ran Poland and dictated policy like the Holocaust, certainly not the Poles during WW 2.
There are certain Holocaust terms which are worth exploring like “Kapo”, “Judenrat” and “Sonderkommando” as shameful as they may be.
“Kapos” helped concentration camp administration, “Judenrat” helped organize deportation to death camps from ghettos and transit camps, “Sonderkommando” went into the gas chambers and handled the corpses for the crematorium etc. etc.
Yes. Thank you for expressing it.
“Charging Poland with collaboration with Germany in WWll is like charging Blacks with arson for the cross that was burnt in their front yard.”
Brilliant!
Any discussions about the Holocaust become very emotionally very quickly because those in the positions you describe had the best chance of survival - and carry enormous guilt over their survival. When you read first-hand accounts, stories describe prisoners seizing food from older or weak prisoners (as they were all starving); those who could take the most often lasted the longest - and they carry that with them.
“Why did you post this?”
Why not ? I didn’t vandalize the embassy.
What I meant was what was the point in the article. What did I miss. Never meant to direct this at you, sorry.
Correct. I could add that Poland had the lowest number of collaborators relative to population. I know, I don't believe those stats could be calculated either, but they can be found. That there are more Poles honored for saving Jews is beyond question. I suppose you could blame that on Poland having the most Jews. Since most of western Europe expelled them. That the Polish government was the only western government to raise the issue of the slaughter of Jews, who they considered Poles too, is also beyond question. The sad part of this manufactured political controversy is what you said. some Poles collaborated during the war with the Nazis You did say that. If we had this conversation in Warsaw, they'd throw our butts in jail. Which is the 21st century issue. Maybe we'd get to meet President Komorowski, who had the temerity to apologize for incidents where Polish citizens killed Jews. The Jedwabne Pogrom DID NOT HAPPEN, on pain of prison. What a stupid political position to take. Poland has nothing to apologize for, they were targeted for extinction like Jews and Roma, just slower. But to make an issue of those who did collaborate, in Stalinesque fashion, not a good sign

Very little good will come from this.
