The nostrils are the biggest key. This new eagle has much larger ones than the original female. The beaks are different in shape and texture too.

The male is young. His tail feathers are still “dirty” rather than solid white. Maybe next year he’ll do better but he simply isn’t ready to be a dad this year. I have yet to see him on the eggs.

The female has been a trooper, bless her eagle heart. But even before the intruder showed up she was leaving the first egg for long periods, probably to hunt since the male wasn’t helping out with food or brooding.

I can see that now.

He is indeed a doof when it comes to the eggs. The female got up off of the eggs and he just stood there. She should have given him a head-smack. LOL!
