I will be strongly pushing Comprehensive Background Checks with an emphasis on Mental Health. Raise age to 21 and end sale of Bump Stocks! Congress is in a mood to finally do something on this issue - I hope!

How many are murder/suicides?
All this is necessary only because the schools are treated as being different than the rest of publicly accessible localities. All that has to be done is to stop banning personal defense tools from public places. Through market pressures, the problem will take care of itself, including in schools, hospitals, and football games. If a places are to be restricted, let it be the local bars and houses of ill repute, where emotions run high in more than one sense. /sarc

Democrats are in trouble.
“18 year olds do NOT need this UNLESS they go into the MILITARY!!! “
You could say the same about 21 year olds. You could say the same about any age. Or if you can’t, why can you say it about 18 year olds but not the others?
Are 18 year olds not included among the people referred to in “the right of he people to keep and bear arms”?
Self-evaluation
And death-by-cop??
There’s a lot of data out there about firearm suicides and homicides.
For starters: “ In 2013, there were 73,505 nonfatal firearm injuries (23.2 injuries per 100,000 U.S. citizens),[2][3] and 33,636 deaths due to “injury by firearms” (10.6 deaths per 100,000 U.S. citizens).[4] These deaths consisted of 11,208 homicides,[5] 21,175 suicides,[4] 505 deaths due to accidental or negligent discharge of a firearm, and 281 deaths due to firearms use with “undetermined intent”.[4]
If by “Comprehensive background checks” he means making private sales illegal, he is losing me.
That’s the road to registration.
And the road to registration always ends at confiscation.
Determining mental health is a slippery slope. It all depend on the administration that is in charge. Political correct tyranny will run amok.
THINK ABOUT THAT!
Do we want every liberal counselor and psychologist to be in complete control of the 2nd Amendment??
I would like to keep the age at 18 years for gun ownership. The only compromise acceptable to me would be mandatory training for using firearms for under 21. They can still own a rifle or other firearms at age 18 as long as they passed training.
I get where you are coming from, but I feel the need to represent the other side of the argument.
What if it is an 18yo who has lost their father and is acting as head of household? What if it is an 18yo with a wife and a kid? What if it is an 18yo with a small business? What if it is an 18 yo with a night job in a dangerous part of town? Should they be ineligible to protect themselves? There are some really responsible 18yo’s out there and they will be punished for the sins of the bad ones.
I wasnt much older when I was stalked by an unknown someone in a sleepy college town. I lived in my own apartment and attended classes during the day. I worked to pay for my living expenses and tuition myself. When the creep made me aware that he was watching me, I bought a pistol that very day and slept with it under the edge of my bed. It was the only thing that allowed me to get any sleep at night. I can only imagine my terror if my government had denied me the right, even for one day, to own that form of self protection. The cops had already told me that they could not do anything until a crime had been committed, meaning until I was either assaulted or killed.
I believe the age limit is only related to AR-15 or semi-auto rifles, and while I don't agree, I would note that in Florida, the drinking age is 21.
My personal opinion is that if you can be drafted or vote, you should be able to drink or buy a semi-auto rifle, so I believe that the age for all of those things should be the same. So, if it was 21 for all of those, I'd probably be OK with that, although as I've said I think it should be 18.
I'm quite sure that most people of that era would not sell a gun to a known criminal or crazy person.
Technology has provided the ability to reduce violent crime without infringing on Unalienable Rights in some cases. We're talking about the sale of a firearm in this instance, not merely a transfer...
I want nationwide ccw. And a nice big wall
If language used to ban bump stocks includes Feinsteins rate increasing devices it will lead to semi autos being banned. That is the intent.
Also Las Vegas looks too much like a False Flag op similar to Fast and Furious- which was an op to attack the 2nd Amendment by govt agents.
No No and No, what the hell are you doing Trump
Negotiating strategy.
So what?
These "background" checks would necessitate adding them to the 2nd Amendment then. Not legislating around them, hence watering them down in every federal and state jusrisdiction.
What we should have is national open, unconcealed carry, with very few rational exceptions, and the bad guys would be dead, and quite rare soon enough.
