CNN reached out directly to The Daily Caller to deny the claim made by a Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor in regard to Wednesday night's gun safety town hall in Florida.
Colton Haab, a JROTC enlistee who has previously spoken with media outlets about how he helped his peers seek shelter during the shooting, did not take part in Wednesday's event on the grounds that CNN attempted to plant "scripted" questions for him to ask. "CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions and it ended up being all scripted," Haab claimed. "I expected to be able to ask my questions and give my opinion on my questions." (RELATED: Parkland Survivor Claims CNN Planted 'Scripted' Questions At Town Hall)

A CNN spokesman reached out to TheDC and explained that while Haab did in fact submit remarks to be delivered, they were turned away once it became clear he planned on delivering an extensive speech and not just ask a singular question.
"There is absolutely no truth," to Haab's claim, CNN's Vice President of Communications and Digital Partnerships Matt Dornic told TheDC. "CNN did not provide or script questions for anyone in last night's town hall, nor have we ever."
"After seeing an interview with Colton Haab, we invited him to participate in our town hall along with other students and administrators from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Colton's father withdrew his name from participation before the forum began, which we regretted but respected. We welcome Colton to join us on CNN today to discuss his views on school safety."
Dornic added the network gave Haab the opportunity to expand on the idea of arming teachers, a topic which was brought up multiple times during the town hall, as opposed to delivering a prepared speech. Haab reportedly declined to reframe his remarks, and his father subsequently prevented him from taking part in the program.
Despite CNN's explanation, the network did in fact let multiple participants deliver lengthy remarks which went beyond the pale of simple questions.
In particular, Lori Alhadeff, whose daughter Alyssa was one of the 17 victims who lost their lives in last week's tragedy, gave a speech while Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel And NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch sat on stage.
The grieving mother ended her powerful, four-minute-long remarks by asking Loesch, "what is your plan to put things into action? What is your action?" yet Loesch was not given an opportunity to respond by moderator Jake Tapper.

This was not Alhadeff's first appearance on CNN.
Her impassioned response to her daughter's death last week brought CNN host Brooke Baldwin to tears during a live broadcast. (RELATED: Brooke Baldwin Moved To Tears By Emotional Message From Parkland Victim's Mother)

CNN did not immediately respond to TheDC's request for additional comment on why Alhadeff was allowed to deliver her speech yet Haab was not.

Can CNN be shut down by the FEC? Or at least to be forced to show and announce a statement every hour to the effect that they are the communications arm of the Democrat party?
What they are doing is no different than the networks rigging game shows in the 50s. The FCC came down on that hard.
This is a serious question.
Hitler Youth = CNN Youth
Colton Haab: And yet he persisted!
So CNN is attacking the integrity of one of the “precious and innocent kids” ? Really something didn’t CNN pounce on anyone who dared question these innocent children?
I’m always reminded of the Profumo Affair from the UK back in 1963.
John Profumo, government minister, was accused of consorting with prostitutes who were also consorting with Russian agents. (You always have to worry about Russian collusion). At a trial, a barrister questioned one of the ladies and informed her that “John Profumo says he never met you in his life!”
She killed it with: “Well, he would say that, wouldn’t he?”
CNN says they didn’t plant scripted questions? Well, they would say that, wouldn’t they?
Its not a news network. Why do people watch it?
~~~~
People know why they watch it, even if they can’t consciously admit it. People need their perspectives reinforced and validated by others to feel better about them. Mob mentality isn’t just a social phenomenon that occurs in physical groups. People who are angry don’t care about any bigger picture nor any alternative views, they just need those who are nearest to them to support theirs so that they can continue to operate on their chosen course and ideals.
People come here for the same thing, by the way. Just sayin’ It’s a very common phenomenon
Colton Haab possibly has shown more bravery and heroism during and after the incident than any of the “me too’s” being given millions and heralded in the media
“CNN did not provide or script questions for anyone in last night’s town hall, nor have we ever.”
Donna Brazile, is that you?
Riiight...and they don’t interview a CNN VP’s son without coaching him nor provide a disclaimer as to the familial relationship either.
“Why do people watch it?”
They don’t.
One question: How would it benefit the student who outed them, to out them? What reason would he have to lie?
“CNN reached out directly to The Daily Caller to deny the claim made by a Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor in regard to Wednesday night’s gun safety town hall in Florida.”
Sorry CNN. I believe the student.
Parsing this sentence. Since Colton Haab didn't end up participating in last night's town hall and text they gave him was therefore not given to someone in the town hall. All the other participants' questions met CNN's approval, even the question for Dana who wasn't there yet.
Oh CNN, we don’t believe you. You have a history and it’s not honesty.
Colton Haab should be a guest on every conservative radio and tv show.
LOL
#MeToo
HAHAHAHA yea, and Donna Brazil didn’t feed questions to Hillary either...
