Student survivors of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School who are taking the fight for gun control to the state and national level don’t appreciate seeing their organizing efforts being labeled as a left-wing conspiracy.

“Their sorrow can very easily be hijacked by left-wing groups who have an agenda,” former Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) told CNN’s “New Day” on Tuesday, specifically naming billionaire and liberal activist George Soros.

“Do we really think 17-year-olds on their own are going to plan a nationwide rally?” the conservative activist continued.

Incensed students went on the air following Kingston’s remarks to defend their activism.

“I think it’s very despicable that he would even have the audacity to say that,” said student survivor Brandon Abzug. “Especially in the wake of a tragedy we really show who we truly are. Just because we’re young we can’t make a difference is not right.”

Abzug called on Kingston to apologize.

Delaney Tarr, another student survivor, added that that amount of support they’ve been receiving is “so overwhelming.”

“We are being given this platform and it felt wrong not to take advantage of it,” she said.

A group of Douglas students became unlikely yet powerful spokespersons for gun reform after Nikolas Cruz, one of their former classmates, shot and killed 17 people.

Abzug came up with a three-point plan that he brought to his state representatives. It includes a ban on assault weapons, the creation of an agency that facilitates interaction between the FBI and local law enforcement, and the mandatory placement of psychologists in every school to “boost the morale of students so that people who are young don’t grow up to be so hateful of the world.”

Meanwhile, CNN is labeling one of the JROTC students, who helped save students’ lives during the shooting, as a liar.

That is an absolutely, utterly USELESS set of proposals.

1) Ban something that no one can even define. Whether I shoot you with an AR-15 or an elegant Mossberg deer rifle you're just as dead.

2) Crreate ANOTHER useless agency that is sure to become corrupted and even further erode the constitutional divide between Federal and local governments.

3) Hire an army of totally useless psychobabble experts. I am sure Cruz has seen an army of psychologists in his time. They sure didn't seem to help much, eh? It would however create thousands of jobs on the public payrolls for holders of worthless degrees.

Pure gun control and the creation of large numbers of gubbermint jobs. You tell ME this isn't the work of Leftist agitators.

The problem with these protests is the kids are being manipulated during a time of grief. The gun-control grab mob is exploiting these raw emotions in essentially immature young adult/children.

I am not mad at these kids for jumping on the wagon, it happens a lot when there is a psychological trauma and one isn’t allowed to grieve through it. They have essentially now set up these kids to never be able to get out of the grief cycle.

Their demands cannot be met, it is an unrealistic expectation, and now their grief cycle is stunted. It will take years for them to overcome it, if they ever even recognize it. What is now being done to them through exploitation and manipulation is another type of horror.

This young woman's statement proves the assertion she is trying to counter, and she doesn't even recognize it.
