US President Donald Trump has said arming teachers could prevent school shootings like that which left 17 people dead last week in Florida.
A staff member with a gun could end an attack "very quickly", he said.
Mr Trump floated the proposal as emotional survivors of the 14 February massacre implored him to make sure it never happens again.
The Republican president also backed calls for improved background checks on gun buyers.

What I said was to look at the possibility of giving “concealed guns to gun adept teachers with military or special training experience - only the best. 20% of immediately fire back if a savage sicko came to a school with bad intentions. Highly trained teachers would also serve as a deterrent to the cowards that do this. Far more assets at much less cost than guards. A ‘gun free’ school is a magnet for bad people. ATTACKS WOULD END!

Liberal teachers are NOT ones to trust with guns. They are overly emotional and irrational. I wouldn’t want my grandchild in a class with an armed feminazi.
I’ve taught with many of them (briefly since the liberal agenda in today’s schools wasn’t something I chose to pass on) - these are people that cannot handle life, majored in something easy, got the only job they could with their limited intelligence and abilities. Yet they think they are doing a great job and don’t understand how they are just useful tools for the Alinsky crowd.

And along with that will be intact families where kids don’t come home to an empty house.
Many of these shootings are kids that have no guidance at home and are bullied at school.
The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.
And bad guys will ALWAYS have guns, laws or no laws.

Here’s the spin- the vice principal did not actually stop the attack. To be fair Snopes says that if an attack is stopped before anyone is killed it may not get attention.

A well armed society is a polite society.
Where do you think the American people got manners from?
If something was misunderstood or considered disrespectful in the past, then that could end up getting someone killed.
I bet if society was like that today, then we would not hear a lot of the mouth from these punks because they would have been dumped a long time ago.
Imo, the armed faculty and staff is winning the argument. I think the feds can fund the training. I think that those who volunteer to serve and go through traing should be paid more and the feds can pay that. Schools dont have an axtra 100k for paid security officers.but if they have paid security the teacher /coaches can supplement. This is the “ something “ we need to do!! It’s who we are!!

Park a police car in front of every school and the nutballs will never know which school actually has a deputy present.
Those are typically the ones who wouldn't even dare to touch one let alone carry. It shouldn't be mandatory anyway, just the teachers willing to go thru the mandatory training.
As a side note, they should also be trained in tactical situations also rather than the regular CPL class....

I agree. I’m not sure why most FReepers seem to think that this has to be an all or nothing deal. We used to be pro-Second Amendment here. If there are 6 adults in a school (teacher, admin, or staff) who are willing to step up, shouldn’t we support that? Why do we have to go to the worst-case hysterical Progressive Drama teacher to say that arming the adults in a school is bad?
If we go to worst-case, remember that many recently discharged vets have a PTSD diagnosis too, so we can’t use vets either. I’m willing to look at individuals for such an important role.
The left’s definition of bullying . . . A Christian student that carries his Bible and uses it to tell another student about Jesus. As soon as he tells them that they are a lost student . . . bullying!
