Jared Kushner’s Security Clearance Issues Roiling White House

The White House said Jared Kushner will not be affected by any policy changes made regarding security clearances, even though he still has an interim security clearance 13 months into the job. “Nothing that has taken place will affect the valuable work that Jared is doing,” Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said at the White House briefing on Tuesday.

Chief of Staff John Kelly last week ordered changes to how the White House manages security clearance investigations, after staffer Rob Porter continued to access top secret material even after claims of domestic abuse by two ex-wives were reported to the FBI.

Porter had been working under an interim security clearance, raising scrutiny over the 30 to 40 White House staffers who are also working with interim security clearances, including the president’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner.

The new policy limits new interim clearances to a maximum of 270 days, and cuts off any Top Secret or Sensitive-Compartmented-Information (TS/SCI) level interim clearances for individuals whose investigations or adjudications have been pending since June 1, 2017, or before.

Poor Breitbart, Jared Kushner still there while their leaker Bannon is gone and shamed. Jealous much.

The perceived risk is an indication of jealous bias by the perceiver

The security process is deliberately moving republican clearance applications slowly. They brag about it.

The perceived risk is an indication of jealous bias by the perceiver.

Or genuine concern that someone is reading highly sensitive information when they can't get the security clearance to do so.

You are not really needed to have such concerns. That is the Presidents call. The peanut gallery need not be heard

The president is 13 months into the job and the justification for interim advisors at this point is outweighed by legitimate nepotism concerns.

Don't be surprised if the president just issues Jared a clearance. Based on what Gen. kelly stated yesterday about the matter,: "As I told Jared days ago, I have full confidence in his ability to continue performing his duties in his foreign policy portfolio including overseeing our Israeli-Palestinian peace effort and serving as an integral part of our relationship with Mexico" Kushner is going nowhere.

If you go and read between the lines....whatever Jared wrote down on is original paperwork...was not factual about investments or financial affairs. I don’t think he sought to lie, but I think he felt it necessary not to lay out certain issues.

Because of that...he’s invited more criticism, and delays. If I were this guy, I’d just move on.

Frankly, anyone who has vast holdings and done creative accounting on taxes or bank-loans...ought not associate themselves in the government or invite background investigations. You’d be inviting trouble.

It’s way past time for this fop to justify his stay in the people’s house. Same with that wife of his.

You are committing blasphemy. One is not allowed to question let alone criticize Trump

If he is not going to be honest on his disclosure in that area then why should the FBI believe he was honest on other areas? That's what cost him.

And in any case, why does Kushner need access to the Presidents daily intelligence briefing in order to do the jobs he has been assigned - Mexico, Middle East, NAFTA, and someone said opioids though I think Conway has that?

I'll go to confession this weekend. But the criticism still is valid.

And the President's decisions are never open for criticism? Good to know.

There is a lot of reflexive Ivanka hate.

Here’s an idea for them. Perhaps Trump wants to actually hear all sides of an issue to understand the opposition. After all, consider how Hillary was surrounded by a yes-man echo chamber that told her she was a shoe in. That worked out well for her.

“Peace in the Middle East is an impossibility”

You might want to go back and read Daniel 9.

Two guys in my old office had the same thing on their police records. One guy told the FBI about his record and provided dates. The other kept his mouth shut and let the FBI find out what his police records were. Only one of them got clearance, the other lost his job.

Look over the threads today and you will get a partial list. Start with wavering on the second amendment. Throw in Ivanka and her liberal family leave policies he has voiced support for. Then try amnesty for 1.8 million dreamers that he proposed. That’s enough of a start for this morning. And don’t bother with the usual 4 dimensional chess reply
