Except that neither the Pennsylvania Constitution nor the Federal Constitution gives any entity other than the state legislature the authority to draw the map.

So you're approving of lawlessness. Congratulations.

Don’t you think it is important for the Supreme Court to step in when the Legislature screwed up the job? We see that every day. Good grief. The Supreme Court is the only reason we still have a 2nd Amendment with Hellar.

Exactly. Courts way overstep their bounds in so many ways. Why legislatures do what courts order them to do is a mystery since such court orders violate separation of powers at minimum.

The key is to delay implementation until after the 2018 election and win the Governor’s office. Then the Republicans can use their own map.

Just because the legislature and the governor cannot agree (so far) doesn’t mean the courts can step in. The districts should remain the same until there is an agreement. It is the courts that allow the dems to not negotiate.

Still, there’s the Equal Protection clause of the 14th Amendment, so if they are making crazy-quilt districts in order to disenfranchise one group in favor of another, there is a constitutional issue.
