2013, actually. And from reading the thread it appears at the time to have just been a glitch. It hardly seems likely that Apple users are just noticing it now.

The question of when they purged the Christian holy days is not as important as is the why of their dumping. Going by the the talk of users on the Apple forum and Twitter, it sure seems to be an issue to them.
My guess is that eventually Apple will have to address the problem before too long - if it’s PR people are worth their salt.
