After hearing that the FBI had failed to follow through on evidence that Nikolas Cruz posed a credible threat to carry out a violent act, it reminded me that the Air Force had failed to file paperwork, related to child and spousal abuse, that should have stopped the Texas murderer who killed 26 people in a Sutherland Springs church from being able to buy a gun.

The two worst mass killings in the past year and in both cases, a federal bureaucracy failed to follow prescribed procedures related to both perpetrators, procedures that might have prevented one of both or the mass killings. It sounds like our federal bureaucracies need to tighten up their operations as a first step in making future mass killings less likely.

And since procedures weren't followed in these two cases, we can be sure there are many other cases where procedures weren't followed.

American society creates more dysfunctional people, yet no one will ever take responsibility for their own community.

Responsibility must always be passed elsewhere - higher up and far away, like the FBI or Airforce, because taking responsibility for one’s own and oneself is just too unattractive to people now.

Clearly the answer is to enact sensible gun laws. </sarc>

I would feel the same way about the Air Force dropping the ball in this case. However, it was the local police who dropped the ball in the school shooting. It was up to them to investigate this kid. And up to them to call in the FBI if they needed them.

39 times the local police were called to Cruz’s residence. And 39 times the local police failed. So blaming the FBI on one report, where the local police had 39 reports and did nothing, well, ai’d have to say that local police and that Sheriff the is so vocal about blaming Trump and the FBI, that Sheriff should get sued and prosecuted for dereliction of duty

Hopefully the INDIVIDUALS who were grossly negligent bear some personal responsibility have have to make some reparations out of their own hides.

The impenetrable shield protecting government employees from any hint of accountability for the harm they do, directly or indirectly, under color of authority needs to allow some disinfecting sunlight in.

...filed a notice of claim on Tuesday accusing the Air Force of negligence for not having filed paperwork that could have stopped the gunman from buying his weapons running around loose, presenting a danger to society.

Small edit. Any one who should not be armed should not be freely moving about in our society.

Even if the family wins the case and damages, the taxpayer will pay the judgement.

So the taxpayer will lose.

Civil immunity is an anathema to personal responsibility.

This legal action has to happen. There is presently no consequence for institutional cover up of incompetence, or in some cases, sedition and Anti-American activities.

The Fort Hood shooter slaughtered unarmed soldiers, was a known nut, and an intimidating Muzzzelem’, who was allowed to foment because he was a “psychiatrist”, but he also was reported on several occasions, with no dismissal action taken.

Godlessness naturally moves to the court room to avoid total collapse of America. We will see if a judge can take the place of God in restoring America. (smirk)

Good post, 88!

I hate to say this, but zero politicized the government agencies for eight years, and it would be easy to believe the FBI stood down on the Florida school shooter information when he was reported to them so that the massacre COULD happen, prompting outcries for ..... gun control and confiscation....
