This attitude is all our fault. We have made heroes out of athletes and other celebrities and now they THINK their opinions on politics matter. This Olympics has been all about bashing Trump, bashing Pence and celebrating the abnormal. We need to stop giving adulation to people who happen to have a visible talent. And the athletes need to concentrate more on their athletic performances, not their ‘lifestyle’ or their politics. We are truly a divided nation.

Actually, I would not be surprised to learn that many (most?) of the solo male figure skaters these days are gay. They're just not as "in your face" about it as Rippon. Twenty years ago, the networks would probably have gone out of their way to de-emphasize coverage of people like Rippon. Now they are front and center.
NO wonder NBC ratings have tanked.

Obama referred to the military as “his”, and thought of the government as his personal property. The president is NOT the same thing as America but Obama promoted the notion. Trump does not.
The sad realization is, the media ARE the DNC, there is no separation, it’s pure propaganda, and left wing policies align almost exactly with the Communist Party. The media is also riddled with communists.
So they’re only “journalists”, doing their job of being critical to those in power, when it’s a republican. When it’s a democrat, all the curiosity, all the outrage, all the due diligence, making sure they cover “all the facts” goes straight out the window. They consider their job to mold how you think. They shut down debate and try to enforce a single point of view as being the only “caring and adult” view allowed. They take advantage of emotional victims, their state of despair, to capture the moment to drive policy - which is disgusting, what a dishonest means to push what they want.
I believe the school shooting in Florida was allowed to happen. The way the media have swooped in and use these kids for their own purposes is vile.

For some people getting a job thanks to Trump being president and not some who happily would allow these jobs to go to China or Mexico means more then you winning a gold medal for the USA.
