University of Miami basketball coach Jim Larranaga took the opportunity after Saturday's 62-55 loss to Syracuse to let the world know his views on gun control in the wake of the Stoneman Douglas High massacre.
"I think we have to do something about our gun laws," Larranaga said. "We're not the Wild, Wild West where everybody should carry a gun. There needs to be accountability and responsibility for people in charge of selling guns and buying guns."

Start homeschooling today.
Though we should be.
Oh for goodness sakes, hush up and coach please
!
Yes. We need to repeal them.
We're not the Wild, Wild West
The "wild west" was a lot more civilized than most American cities today.
There needs to be accountability and responsibility for people in charge of selling guns and buying guns."
You're completely ignorant of current gun laws, coach. Shut yer yap. You're just making yourself look stupid.
Shut up and coach. What a clueless poltroon. Who cares what this loser has to say about anything?
Yep, that’s what we need, more laws they won’t enforce
They could have charged this kid and prevented this but didn’t
When I hear liberals call for “common ground” on gun control, these same people would never countenance finding common ground on abortion.
We must make concessions on principle to them but they will fight tooth and nail against making concessions on principle to us.
Why on earth should we do that for people unwilling to meet us half way on things that matter to us?
Give them an inch and soon we’ll have nothing left.
The coach was heard screaming on the sideline: SHOOT! SHOOT! SHOOT!
There IS RESPONSIBILITY Dumbass
Why don’t you condemn black violence and black athletes daily assaults, rapes, theft, cheating, etc like you so “boldly” did here? Why don’t you criticize Dims nonresponses to Chicago murder and mayhem?
C’mon, be a BIG BOY, Jim. You see it every day yet you are SILENT! Where’s your conscience? Oh, you don’t have one that’s color-blind eh?
Name the “something”, dumbass, and we can talk about it.
The very first step should be to Throw Away your Television, severely limit any interaction with the Entertainment and Sports industry as much as possible.
And just maybe your children will have a shot at being normal.
This from a guy that has 2-4 ARMED Florida State troopers around him at games....
Sports is the left’s new hollyweird. Never pass a up a chance to advocate.
George Soros, teaching the parrots to sing.
+1
Yeah we do.
Allow hassle free concealed carry everywhere.
STFU Coach, stick to what you know and leave us alone.
“How often did these incidents occur in the wild, wild west, where everybody wore a gun?”
I’ve seen several old west documentaries where they found that there were actually very few “gunfights” in the old west. The “gunslinger” is more of a Hollywood concoction than reality.
Most folks either had, or wore, a gun...but for many more reasons than mass killings and crime. There were wild animals, snakes, Indians, and criminals. Most guns were worn, or born, for SELF PROTECTION, not murder and mayhem.
Folks were wild, and mix in a few saloons and some of that rotgut whiskey and things would get out of hand once in a while. It took the law, sometimes wearing a gun, to set them right again.
We’re not looking to become the “wild west”, but there is one old saying that holds very true where human nature is concerned...”an armed society, is a polite society”.
The 2nd amendment is basically to protect us from our own government...it’s hard to terrorize an armed populace. It’s what keeps the likes of Obama and the democrats from rising to the ranks of full-fledged dictators...they know we’re out there.
I say we go back to sports as a low pay occupation, as it should be for something that contributes little to society other than a basis for gambling and a distraction for men.
