Texans go to the polls for primary elections on March 6, the same date is also the 182nd anniversary of the fall of the Alamo. Normally, they would not be connected but this year they are in one of the hottest primary races in Texas. Incumbent Land Commissioner George P. Bush is fighting off a blast from the past. His predecessor, Jerry Patterson, wants his job back in part because of a needed but controversial revamp of the historical site. Specifically, whether to move the cenotaph the gravestone of the Alamo defenders...Bush and his campaign team didnt grant us an interview on this story. However, late last year he had to defend his idea to skeptical state senators who approved $75 million state tax dollars for the plan...But one aspect of the master plan caught some people off guard. The re-imagined site would include more exhibits on indigenous people and life before the famous battle. Senators wanted a commitment, that changes would not shift the focus away from the battle itself.

I can understand that. I’m not thrilled with it either. However, IMHO he is the lesser evil in the race so I plan to vote against Bush.
I've read that they've acquired many of the tourist trap building (Ripley's Believe it or Not) etc. across the street and around the present Alamo. The plan was to enlarge the "foot print" to the original Alamo grounds. This months Texas Monthly magazine has a good article on this and the political race.
NO to Bush. He refused to attend town hall meetings, called it a race for "dog catcher" and spent lots of time out of state campaigning for his father during the Presidential race.
I'm voting for Patterson.
The Mexican land commissioner whats to honor the victors of the battle. All part of the New World Order.
Who didn't want to be on what ballot in 2016? You are showing a Texas flag, but you aren't even aware of the Texas statewide election cycle?
Do your homework before you go trolling for the Bushes around here.
Yes, it does seem like they had a hard time settling down doesn’t it.
I don’t care about “Pee’s” heritage other than that his family has done enough damage.
"Pee" is another traitorous Bush; his only loyalty is to the Deep State.
Maybe he can get rid of his Daddy’s leftover guacamole bowls in the gift shop.
I am so done with the Bushes.
Hes a Son of a Bush.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He’s also the son of a Mexican.
His mother was a Mexican national when he was born.
If he had chosen, he could be a Mexican citizen.
He is not naturally an American.
The Alamo as it is is sacred ground.
The letter from Colonel Travis on the defense if the Alamo by just over 100 men giving their all for freedom.
Leave it alone.
“To the People of Texas & All Americans in the World:
Fellow citizens & compatriotsI am besieged, by a thousand or more of the Mexicans under Santa AnnaI have sustained a continual Bombardment & cannonade for 24 hours & have not lost a man.
The enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion, otherwise, the garrison are to be put to the sword, if the fort is takenI have answered the demand with a cannon shot, & our flag still waves proudly from the walls. I shall never surrender or retreat.
Then, I call on you in the name of Liberty, of patriotism & everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid, with all dispatchThe enemy is receiving reinforcements daily & will no doubt increase to three or four thousand in four or five days.
If this call is neglected, I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible & die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor & that of his countryVictory or Death.
William Barret Travis
Lt. Col. comdt
P.S. The Lord is on our sideWhen the enemy appeared in sight we had not three bushels of cornWe have since found in deserted houses 80 or 90 bushels & got into the walls 20 or 30 head of Beeves
Travis”
As they say in West Texas .... anyone but a another Bush!
There are 4 people running for this position in the GOP primary, so the vote will be split making it easier for P to win with his name recognition. (Where’ve we seen this tactic before?) Haven’t done my research to see who I plan to vote for, but it won’t be him. Sounds like Patterson may have the next-best name recognition if he was the previous office-holder.
BTW how are the names ordered on the ballot? Random? They’re definitely not in alphabetical order.
